Kitten With Glass Jar Stuck On Her Head Wanders Boston Streets Desperately Seeking Help
A tiny orange kitten in Boston found herself in a frightening situation, her head trapped inside a glass bowl, leaving her blind and disoriented.
Everything around her must have been a confusing, scary blur as she wandered helplessly, unsure how to free herself.
Luckily, a compassionate passerby spotted her struggle and called for help. Teams from the Animal Rescue League of Boston and Fall River Animal Control sprang into action before the situation could turn tragic.
The little kitten somehow slipped her head into what resembled a glass light fixture.
It looked like she was wearing a see-through helmet, kind of like a tiny space explorer off on an adventure.
She was part of a group of community cats living nearby. Even with the odd “helmet,” she followed the others as they were drawn toward food left in a humane trap.
Although she couldn’t smell it, her instincts pulled her closer, and that’s when she walked into the trap.
Once safely captured, the ARL team was able to remove the bowl. Thankfully, aside from being dirty and shaken up, the kitten was in good health.
They named her Buzz Lightyear.
As the glass came off, her eyes lit up. She was finally seeing the world clearly again. It was a moment of surprise and wonder, followed by the comforting smells and sounds she’d been missing.
Buzz was taken to the ARL’s adoption center, where she got a full health check, vaccinations, and was spayed.
In the shelter, she started to explore her new environment, slowly coming out of her shell. She found comfort in the company of other cats and began learning to trust the humans around her.
The ARL team shared in a Facebook post:
“Buzz has settled into her new surroundings in our colony cat room – she loves the company of other felines. She is still learning to trust humans and will need some time for ARL staff and volunteers to help socialize her before she is ready for adoption.”
Every interaction helped her feel safer. Over time, she grew more confident and curious again.
After a few weeks of patience, love, and care, Buzz finally found what she had always needed: a forever home.
The ARL team shared the good news in an update post:
“Buzz Lightyear was adopted. She is looking forward to spending her first holiday season in her new home where she is thriving with her new family and feline companion!”
Now, Buzz has embarked on her newest adventure – life with a devoted family and a feline friend to keep her company.
Each day brings new discoveries, and this time she’s free to explore without getting herself trapped.
