He was growing fast, too. By six months, he was nearly 40 pounds, still growing into his big paws.
At the shelter, they guessed he was a Labrador mix with a bit of golden retriever. But Alexus couldn’t help but wonder: what was he really?
So, like many curious pet owners, she decided to do a DNA test. Just for fun… or so she thought. The results? They completely surprised her!
Before revealing the results, Alexus decided to involve the TikTok community in the mystery. So she grabbed her phone, hit record, and introduced her handsome pup to the world.
In the video, she shared a few details about Kona, like his age and weight, and gave viewers a better look at his adorable face, white-spotted belly, and those playful paws.
After showing Kona off, Alexus invited everyone to guess his breed. She knew the guesses would be all over the place, and she was excited to see the responses, saying:
“To any of the dog lovers out there, would you like to guess what breed my dog is? Because we got his DNA results back, and we were shocked!
With his black coat, white patches, and those big puppy eyes, Kona didn’t exactly resemble one specific breed, which only made the mystery more fun.
To make things even more exciting, Alexus added a playful challenge in the caption, teasing the dog lovers by saying:
“I can guarantee no one will get it 100% right.”

Kona’s DNA test revealed quite the mix: Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky, American Bully, and American Pit Bull Terrier.
But Alexus’s curiosity didn’t stop there. She sent off another sample to a different company, just to be sure.
The second results came back almost identical, with just a few extras tossed in, like Labrador Retriever, Chow Chow, and even a touch of Alaskan Malamute.
