Los Angeles Cat Uses Speech Buttons To Alert Her Owner Of A Stranger Outside Their Window
Have you ever seen those incredible videos of pets using speech buttons to communicate?
I’m always amazed whenever I stumble across one because the idea of an animal fully understanding its surroundings is just mind-blowing to me.
But my jaw literally dropped when I found out about a Los Angeles cat named Justin Bieber (yes, just like the singer) who has mastered using speech buttons too!
His owner, Sarah, introduced him to the buttons when he was just a tiny kitten and started his training right away.
Justin caught on to his first words incredibly fast, and unsurprisingly, they were the ones he loved most.
Since he adored going for walks, the word ‘outside’ was the first he learned, followed closely by ‘bird’.
Sarah was completely amazed at how patient and clever he was during the training.
Little did she know, a scary surprise was waiting around the corner…
Sarah decided to move from her small Los Angeles apartment to a bigger house with a backyard where she could build a catio for her furry companions.
The cats loved all the extra space, sunbathing in the backyard, and watching birds all day long.
However, a few weeks after the move, Justin started acting strangely. He began pressing combinations of buttons that didn’t make sense at all!
One night, he slowly approached the speech buttons and pressed two words that left Sarah terrified. First came ‘stranger’, then ‘smell’.
He stared intently at the living room window, as if he saw someone standing there. Sarah rushed to look outside – and no one was there.
Understandably, she was absolutely terrified. Could her cat actually be sensing ghosts? Over the following weeks, the behavior got even more intense.
Justin would approach the buttons late at night, pressing things like ‘stranger’, ‘window’, and ‘outside’.
Every time Sarah checked, though, the house appeared empty.
Nearly two months into living in their new home, Sarah finally figured out what was going on.
Having grown up in an apartment, Justin wasn’t used to seeing wildlife. Now, with a huge backyard, he was spotting raccoons, squirrels, and even ferrets.
When Sarah realized it was just wildlife and not something supernatural, she breathed a huge sigh of relief. Honestly, I’d rather have raccoons than ghosts, too!
Thankfully, Sarah captured the entire experience on video and shared it on her Instagram page. Check it out:
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 5 million views and sparking a flood of positive reactions.
Some viewers speculated that cats might actually perceive beings from other dimensions, while others wanted to know where they could get similar buttons for their own feline friends.
I suppose plenty of people are curious to see if they’ve got any “strangers” lurking in their backyard too (guilty as charged, haha).
