Virginia Team Finds Senior Poodle Abandoned In Parking Lot, Then Reads A Shocking Note
Dogs give endless love and loyalty, yet too often, as they grow older, they’re discarded, abandoned, or forgotten. That was the sad reality for Princess, a senior Poodle from Virginia.
She had spent her life devoted to her family, only to be left behind when age caught up with her, left wondering why the people she trusted most had walked away just when she needed them most.
Sweet Princess was abandoned in the parking lot of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in Virginia, her belongings stacked beside her.
When the shelter staff spotted her, they rushed over right away.

The poor pup lay there, confused and heartbroken, still hoping the person who had abandoned her would come back.
Then they found a note that broke their hearts: her previous owner had asked the shelter to euthanize her and to give away her things to someone else.
But the staff knew better than to let that happen. They scooped Princess up and brought her inside. They showered her with love, care, and attention.
She was taken straight to the vet, who confirmed she was around 16 years old and suffering from advanced kidney disease.
Knowing the shelter couldn’t give her the specialized care she needed, Princess was transferred to Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue in Virginia, where her journey to healing could start.

The rescue team went all out to make Princess feel safe and loved.
Surrounded by gentle hands and kind hearts, the sweet senior pup slowly started to relax, finally accepting the affection she’d been missing for so long.
Because of her age and kidney issues, Princess was placed in hospice care. She wasn’t in much physical pain, but the heartbreak of being abandoned still weighed on her.
The staff made it their mission to fill her days with comfort, warmth, and little joys.
Little by little, her spirit began to lift, and watching her start to heal brought the team so much happiness.

Princess finally settled into her hospice foster home. Even after everything she’d been through, this sweet girl still had so much love to give.
With patience and kindness, she began to heal, not just in body, but in spirit too.
As the days went by and Princess kept thriving, the rescue team started to wonder if she really needed hospice care at all. Her spark had returned, and it was clear this resilient senior might just have a second chance at a forever home.
Knowing that Princess is safe, cherished, and deeply loved fills my heart with joy. I truly believe she’ll find a family that sees exactly how special she is.
Here’s hoping she spends her golden years surrounded by people who adore her, and that every abandoned pup out there finds the same happiness and kindness she has.
