California Rescuers Save Frightened Mama Dog And Seven Puppies Found In A Torn Tent
When rescuer Laurette Nicoll received a desperate call about a mother dog and her litter of newborn puppies living in an old, torn tent, she didn’t hesitate for a second.
She grabbed her rescue gear, jumped in her car, and set off to help.
When she arrived at the property, the owner led her to the spot, and what she found broke her heart. Inside a ragged tent lay a pile of filthy blankets, barely shielding a mother dog and her seven tiny puppies from the elements.
The puppies, no more than a few days old, squirmed and whimpered for warmth while their frightened mom, Darcy, watched every move with wary eyes.
Nicoll knew she had to act quickly, but Darcy was terrified and unwilling to let anyone near her babies.
The rescuers moved slowly, using calm voices and gentle movements to show they meant no harm. While one person carefully kept Darcy at a safe distance, Nicoll tenderly lifted the fragile puppies, one by one, into her van.
