Starving Kitten Wandering Ohio McDonald’s Gets The Miracle He’d Been Waiting For

Starving Kitten

When tiny kittens get left behind, they’re suddenly thrown into a fight they were never meant to face alone, and heartbreakingly, so many don’t survive it.

One little black-and-white kitten was dangerously close to becoming one of those stories. He had been wandering the streets for months, trying to stay alive day by day.

But everything shifted the moment Donna, a devoted rescuer from Ohio, spotted him and refused to let his story end there.

One evening, Donna got a call from her veterinarian, Dr. Sue, who had seen a black and white kitten lingering outside a nearby McDonald’s.

The little one was clearly hungry, searching for scraps to fill his empty belly, unaware that his life was about to take a turn for the better.

Catching him, however, was not going to be easy.

When Dr. Sue tried to approach the kitten herself, he was too frightened to let her near. With no luck in catching him, Donna set out the following day determined to rescue him. To her surprise, the kitten was nowhere in sight.

As she searched the area, she spotted food bowls, a sign that others had also tried to help the little stray.

Still, Donna pressed on, holding onto hope that she would find him and bring him to safety before it was too late.

After a few hours, Donna finally saw the kitten near a busy highway. She was both excited and heartbroken by seeing him in such a condition, saying in an interview:

“There he was, so little, and right by the highway. My heart sank.”

Worried about his safety, Donna attempted to get closer, but the terrified kitten bolted into the nearby bushes.

Though relieved he was at least out of traffic’s reach, she knew the only real way to bring him to safety was with a humane trap.

Filling it with tasty cat food, she set it up and waited quietly from her car, hoping he would take the bait.

It didn’t take long for the hungry kitten to venture inside, and Donna was thrilled to finally rescue him. She said:

“This kitten was either abandoned or hitched a ride from anywhere inside a semi or a car. I looked back on the local posts and saw someone else posted about him (wandering the streets) a month ago. With the help of Dr. Sue, he’s safe, and that’s what matters.”

Upon arrival at the vet clinic, the kitten, lovingly named Mickey D, received the necessary treatments. He was treated for fleas and worms, and after being neutered, he went home with Donna.

On his first night in a safe home, the little kitten was understandably frightened. But by the next day, Mickey began to show glimpses of who he truly was. He started to trust people, leaning into their affection and soaking up cuddles.

As the days went by, his curiosity grew. He became playful, especially with toys, and flourished in a life far removed from the dangers of the streets.

When he was finally ready for adoption, Mickey was taken to Cats Are People, Too! Club to improve his chances of finding a family. Sadly, he was overlooked, and after two weeks, he returned to Donna’s foster home.

There, Mickey found comfort next to Donna’s other rescue cat, Oliver, whom she also rescued from the bushes. Oliver took Mickey under his wing and helped him go through everything.

Months passed and no one was interested in adopting Mickey, until a woman named Audrey, who lives just a few blocks away, asked about Mickey and his feline friend.

She is a devoted cat lover who recently lost her beloved cat friend. After some time, she was ready for a new chapter in life, wanting to adopt not one, but two cats. Donna shared with excitement:

“We have known this family for years. She truly wanted to adopt two cats. We knew Oliver would be lost without Mickey. We also knew Mickey did indeed need someone to share life with. We feel Mickey and Oliver were destined to be together.”

And so, the two furry buddies got their happily ever after. They moved in with Audrey and her family and instantly settled in.

Today, both cats are thriving in their new lives. Oliver is the social one, always eager for attention and happily greeting anyone who comes through the door, while Mickey often trails behind, following his lead.

Although their beginnings were filled with hardship, the two now share a happy life together, surrounded by a family that makes sure they have everything they need to feel safe and loved.
