Cats have a knack for finding the most unexpected places to hide. Take this time, for example, when a New York school worker saw a stray cat sneaking in and out of his car.
Curious and puzzled by this unexpected visitor, he decided to investigate. However, what he found wasn’t the mysterious cat, but something even more surprising… Let me tell you all about it!
A man noticed a cat going in and out of his car and couldn’t help but wonder why she picked his vehicle as a hiding place. Knowing these clever creatures often seek cozy spots for shelter, he figured she might need help and went to find her.
He searched his car thoroughly but to his surprise, she was nowhere to be found. Little did this man know, a stunning surprise awaited him in the trunk.
When he opened it, he found four tiny kittens snuggled up together. His heart melted at the sight of those tiny paws and soft fur huddled in a cozy nest.
As word about these fluffy kittens spread across Facebook, with comments and shares abounding, local rescuer John Debacker was called out to help. This devoted rescuer immediately arrived to save the kittens and their mom.
He knew that mama cat wouldn’t come out with so many people around during the day, so he devised a plan. He set up a live stream camera close to the car and arranged a trap to safely catch the mama cat without scaring her.
Hours passed and the elusive cat was nowhere around. Still, Debacker patiently waited for her appearance since he knew her maternal instincts would guide her toward her beloved offspring.
Debacker’s patience paid off when he finally saw her approaching the trap early in the morning. Overjoyed and relieved, he shared in an interview:
“I saw her get caught around 3 a.m. on camera and immediately went back to retrieve her and the babies.”
With their mother safely caught, Debacker carefully transferred each kitten from the trunk into a carrier. The cat family was then entrusted to a compassionate foster family, where they could enjoy their newfound safety and comfort.
Today, this beloved family thrives in their foster home. Mama cat does a fantastic job taking care of her kittens, purring happily as they cuddle together in warm blankets.
Because of the collective efforts of all those who helped in their rescue, this once-vulnerable family now looks forward to a brighter future.
