NY Woman Brings Senior Cat Into Her Home Only To Uncover A Shocking Talent
As cats age, their needs and requirements evolve, and with that, our responsibilities grow. While it may be easier to care for a cat you’ve had since it was a kitten, adopting a senior cat can present different challenges.
People who adopt senior cats often don’t know what to expect, but there are still kind-hearted individuals who are up for the task, willing to give these older felines the love and care they deserve.
One such person is Ferozan, and her talkative new senior pet, Benson.
Benson had spent most of his life in Manhattan, living with his previous owner. Unfortunately, when his owner passed away, Benson was left without a home. That’s when Ferozan stepped in, though it wasn’t part of her original plan to adopt him.
Benson was initially placed in foster care with a woman named Beth, where he lived with a Siamese kitten named Webster.
Ferozan had actually planned to adopt just Webster, but Beth had a different idea: she told Ferozan that the two cats were bonded and needed to be adopted together. At first, Ferozan hesitated, but ultimately, she agreed to adopt both cats.
At the time, Benson was almost 11 years old, and now, at 14, he’s living his best life. Ferozan admits she had never owned a Persian cat before, so Benson was a first for her. She was surprised by how much he loved to talk.
“He is the type of cat who just talks back. He’s just a very vocal cat,” Ferozan shared in a video.
From their Instagram profile, it’s clear that Benson loves to engage in conversation. Whether anyone talks to him or not, he’ll likely respond with a meow or a chirp.
Benson’s playful nature defies his age. Ferozan describes him as a “boy” who doesn’t act his age, and it’s easy to see why.
While people may initially think he’s grumpy because of his serious-looking face, Benson is anything but. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves to be held and kissed. As Ferozan puts it:
“He likes to be held, he likes when I give him kisses, he just loves human contact.”
Benson is also extremely cuddly, especially during grooming sessions. He loves attention but isn’t overly needy. He’s the perfect companion cat, with one little quirk—he loves his owner’s attention so much that Ferozan sometimes has a hard time leaving the house!
“He is just one of a kind cat who loves life, and also loves quality of life,” Ferozan explained.
Ferozan has a total of four cats, but it’s clear that Benson runs the show. While the other cats are happy in their home, it’s Benson who holds the crown in their household. The bond Ferozan shares with Benson has made him an integral part of the family.
Interestingly, friends of Benson’s late owner have reached out to Ferozan to express their gratitude. They’re thankful to know Benson is doing well and that he’s happy in his new home.
As Ferozan describes Benson:
“He will let you know if he’s not comfortable, but at the same time, he’s like the sweetest, kindest, needy cat. He’s really a young boy and an old body.”
It’s stories like Benson’s that warm your heart and remind us how much love there is for senior cats in need. Ferozan gave Benson a second chance, and it’s clear that he’s showing his appreciation every day.
