Fluffy Dog Was Lying On Train Tracks In LA, Then A Car Pulled Over And Changed His Life Forever

Some dogs leave a deeper pawprint on your soul than others, the kind you don’t forget. And for seasoned rescuer Rosario Ortiz, one tiny, scruffy Pomeranian did exactly that.
Rosario has a soft spot for dogs who’ve been forgotten. Her eyes are trained to spot the quiet ones, the scared ones, the ones trying to disappear.
One day in her Los Angeles neighborhood, something made her stop in her tracks. It was a small off-white Pomeranian lying near the train tracks.

The poor baby was curled up tight like he hoped the world would just pass him by. He had no collar, no person calling his name, no place to feel safe.
That rough patch of gravel beside the tracks had somehow become his whole world, and a big metal container was the only thing he had to call a bed.
It was heartbreaking to see such a tiny pup living like that, holding on the best he could.

Rosario didn’t hesitate. She reached out to her fellow rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29.
And even though it took over an hour for Suzette to get there, the little dog hadn’t moved a paw. He stayed huddled in his makeshift shelter, too tired to hope for more.
Suzette brought food and set a humane trap, hoping the warm scent would pull him out. It was all going so well, until it wasn’t.

Just as the pup tiptoed out, a passerby came too close and startled him. And just like that, he took off down the tracks.
Both rescuers jumped into their cars, not letting him out of sight. They followed him until he ducked into a fenced-in corner.
Then, they set up baby gates to block any escape routes and slowly moved in closer. Finally, Rosario scooped him up in her arms. The chase was over and the pup was safe.

He didn’t bark or squirm. Instead, the sweet little fluff, now named Marshmallow, melted into her chest like he’d been waiting his whole life for this.
When Suzette drove him away from those cold train tracks, he curled up in the back of the crate and fell asleep, as Suzette shared in a Facebook post:
“The best part was he knew he was safe he could hardly keep his eyes open and laid all the way to back of the trap. He didn’t have to live on the railroad tracks or sleep hiding under that trailer ever again. He was rescued.”

Marshmallow was taken straight to Camino Pet Hospital. He got a warm bath, a full check-up, and all the care he’d missed.
And then he went off to a loving foster home, where he’s been soaking up every soft blanket and snuggle since.
He’s a whole new pup now, playful, sweet, and full of love. His personality shines so brightly that it’s hard to imagine him ever living under a container in the dirt.

While Marshmallow is still waiting for his forever family, one thing’s certain: he’ll never be alone again.
No more cold nights, no more scary sounds from the train tracks, no more hiding under metal containers just to feel safe.
From now on, he’ll be surrounded by love, soft beds, and full bowls. His rescue was the start of a whole new life, and he’s finally getting the care every pup deserves.
