Poodles Found In The Middle Of The Road In Georgia Waiting For Someone Who Broke Their Hearts
Audray Luck has seen a lot in her years running Luck’s Rescue, but even she still gets that heavy feeling in her chest every time she drives toward Murphy Hollow Spring in Georgia.
It’s a quiet, winding stretch of road known as a place where unwanted animals are often left behind.
So when a concerned caller told her there were dogs out there in trouble, she grabbed her gear and went straight to help, hoping it wouldn’t be another sad scene.

As she rounded the bend that morning, her heart dropped. Lying in the middle of the road were two poodles, one black, one golden.
The dogs were scared, confused, and clearly waiting for someone who wasn’t coming back. Audray pulled over and immediately got to work.
She grabbed her treats, her leashes, and that calm, patient tone rescuers use when trying to earn a frightened dog’s trust.

The two pups were so hungry that they came close enough to eat from her hand. But the moment she tried to slip on a leash, they bolted.
Over and over, Audray and her partner tried. But these poor dogs were too afraid.
Every time they took a step forward, the poodles would dash farther away, running straight down the road as if they still believed they might find the people who left them there.

Hours went by, and the rescuers had to make the heartbreaking choice to come back the next morning. Audray shared in a YouTube video:
“We were extremely worried because they had no street smarts. They were standing and even lying in the middle of the road. We were pushing them to their limits. So, we decided they would start over again in the morning.”
As Audray drove home that night, she couldn’t shake the image of the black poodle. The road was dark, and that sweet dog blended right in.

She worried all night, hoping that they’d both be okay until morning. But when she returned at sunrise, her worst fear became real.
The black poodle had been hit and sadly didn’t survive. And right beside her, refusing to leave her sister’s side, was the surviving poodle. She’d stayed there all night, as Audray shared:
“We found the black poodle in the ditch. Her sister didn’t leave her and was waiting there by her, which was heartbreaking to see.”

That sight broke Audray’s heart in two. She promised that she wouldn’t leave the surviving dog behind, not this time.
She set up a safe trap, and after some time, she finally got her.
The little poodle cried at first, terrified and confused, but Audray told her that she was safe now and that no one would ever abandon her again.

At the vet, the poodle, whom they later named Princess Anastasia, was declared healthy. Physically, she was fine, but her heart needed healing.
She was placed in a loving foster home where she could finally rest, eat, and start to feel safe again.
And then came the happiest part: Princess Anastasia found her forever home. A family fell in love with her gentle spirit and promised to give her the life she always deserved, one filled with love and plenty of cozy naps.

Audray still thinks about the black poodle often and wishes things had ended differently for her. But knowing that Princess Anastasia now has a second chance at happiness brings her peace.
It’s the kind of rescue story that shows why people like Audray do what they do, because sometimes, saving one brokenhearted dog really can heal two souls at once.
