Railway Workers Find A Desperate Soul Chained To A Moving Train In Wisconsin

One day, when railway engineers Michael Ortega and Allen Au went to work, they had no idea how much their shift would change.
They were traveling between Galesburg, Illinois, and La Crosse, Wisconsin when an unexpected call from the dispatcher interrupted everything.
It turned out that someone had discovered a dog tied to a rail car that had stopped in the town of Prairie du Chien in Wisconsin.
Realizing how urgent the situation was, Michael and Allen rushed to the scene.
They were told a dog had been spotted on a flat car used for hauling lumber and sheetrock, but when they arrived, the dog was nowhere to be seen.

Still, they refused to give up. Allen shared in an interview:
“We went real slow, almost to the end of the train, and parked at the end was a lumber car. I thought, ‘That must be it.’ But as we drove by we didn’t see anything.”
Determined to find the poor creature, Allen climbed on top of the flat car and made a heartbreaking discovery.
There, trembling with fear, was a small brown pup, chained to a steel beam without water and with food just out of reach.
The sight was nothing short of heartbreaking. Allen shared:
“They had left food for the dog up on the train, but it had shifted all to one side, so the dog couldn’t get to it. For the majority of the past few days it had been raining up here, so all the food was wet, soaked, and looked like mush.”
Although Allen had heard stories like this during his 13 years working on the railway, he had never seen anything like it in person.

Once they discovered the scared pup, Michael and Allen carefully approached her, gently picked her up, and carried her to safety.
However, what surprised them most was the dog’s reaction. Despite all she had been through, the little dog happily wagged her tail, as if she knew she was finally safe.
After further investigation, Michael and Allen were shocked to discover that the poor pup had likely been trapped on the train for two or three days. Allen added:
“You can’t just leave a dog on the train; some of those trains go 70 miles an hour. And it wasn’t one of those trains that was sitting in a yard – it was a train that had actually been moving.”
After bringing the dog to safety, they affectionately named her Lulu and provided her with everything she desperately needed.

But, as they watched Lulu enjoying her delicious meal, something heartwarming happened.
It was as if Michael decided right then that Lulu would never be abandoned again, and said to Allen, “If you don’t adopt her, I will.”
Michael shared his thoughts:
“Seeing how she was when we found her – I have pets at home, and I pictured that it was one of them tied to that car – I just couldn’t understand or fathom what she’s gone through. We had the means to take her in, and she’s just the best little pup, so sweet and loving.”

And that’s exactly what he did. Michael and his wife welcomed Lulu into their home with open arms, and just couldn’t take their eyes off her. He said:
“We stayed with her, watching her like new parents would. It was just so sweet, she’s a very good girl.”

Thanks to Michael and his wife’s unconditional love and care, Lulu quickly adjusted to her new life. The entire family believes it was meant to be. Michael added:
“She belongs here with us. And we’re very blessed to have her.”
Stories like this always warm my heart and restore my faith in humanity.
