Dog Sitting On Abandoned Porch In Indiana Brings Woman To Tears With What She Finds Out

Dog Sitting On Abandoned Porch

Dogs are known for their unwavering loyalty, which is why it’s so painful when they’re left behind. Sadly, that’s what happened to a pup in Indiana.

Taylor Bullock, founder of Happy Tails Animal Rescue, came across a Facebook post that immediately broke her heart.

The photos showed a black-and-white dog sitting on the porch of an abandoned house, waiting day after day as if her family might return.

Taylor couldn’t stop thinking about the dog. She kept refreshing the page, hoping someone would claim her, but no one did.

As the day wore on and storm clouds started rolling in, she decided she had to see the dog in person, sharing in an interview:

“I kept refreshing for hours to see if someone claimed her or if someone was going to pick her up. It was getting later in the day, and the clouds were rolling in, and I was like, ‘OK, I just have to drive by and see if she is still there.’”

When Taylor arrived, she found the dog exactly where the photos showed. She was patient, sweet, and incredibly friendly.

She immediately greeted Taylor with warmth, desperate for a little attention and comfort after days of waiting alone. Taylor recalled:

“She is a very sweet dog. She would cry and just try to sit on my lap while I sat on the porch with her.”

With help from fellow animal advocate Paula Ellis, Taylor soon uncovered the heartbreaking truth.

Neighbors told them that the family had moved out about a month earlier, and they had left the dog behind.

Loyal and confused, the pup had no idea why her family didn’t return, so she stayed right where she had always felt safe, on the porch of her old home.

Thankfully, Taylor was there to change that. She named the dog Rain and decided to give her a fresh start.

At first, Rain wasn’t interested in food or toys; all she wanted was to get back into her old house, as Taylor explained:

“She kept walking to the front door over and over, and if you went to grab the handle, she was jumping at the front door just like she had done this before at this house.”

With no one coming to claim her, Taylor placed Rain in the car and drove her to safety, just minutes before a storm hit.

Once inside Taylor’s home, Rain got a warm bath and meds to ensure her health. Physically, she was okay, but inside, her heart was broken. Taylor shared:

“She was so dirty and had sores on her paws, legs, and back. She had massive separation anxiety, so I made sure all the other animals in the home were settled, and me and her laid on the couch all night.”

By morning, Rain finally started to relax. She fell asleep in Taylor’s arms for the first time in weeks.

Thanks to Taylor’s care, patience, and love, Rain is now in a foster home, slowly learning to trust humans again.

She’s ready for the next chapter of her life with a family who will cherish her loyalty and shower her with the love she deserves.
