When I think about how many cats spend their entire lives as strays, it truly breaks my heart. If I could help every single one, I absolutely would.
Unfortunately, that’s beyond my control, but thankfully, there are others out there dedicated to making a difference.
Take Jen, for example. A passionate cat rescuer from Los Angeles, Jen has made it her mission to help as many felines as possible.
Through her nonprofit, Del Gato Rescue, she’s given countless cats a second chance at life.
Recently, she helped one special senior cat, George, find the loving home he always deserved. His story is one you definitely don’t want to miss!
A Decade-Long Street Life Full Of Heartbreak And Loss

A couple of months ago, Jen received a worried call from one of her fosters about an elderly cat in poor condition.
The cat, a white senior named George, had been living on the streets of Los Angeles for over 10 years, surviving on the scraps of love offered by kind-hearted locals.
Through all the hardships, George found some comfort in his brother, with whom he spent most of his time.

Sadly, that bond was broken when his beloved brother was tragically struck by a speeding car and crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Losing his companion left George heartbroken and even more vulnerable, but his story was far from over.
As soon as Jen heard about his situation, she knew she had to step in. She couldn’t let this sweet senior cat continue suffering on the streets.
George deserved a second chance, and Jen was determined to give him the love and care he deserved in his retirement years.
The Sweetest Feline In All Of LA

When Jen and her team arrived at the given address, she was surprised by how friendly and approachable George was, especially for a street cat.
As she explained in an interview:
“We didn’t need to trap him at all. That’s how friendly he was! We were able to actually just pick him right up.”
The moment their eyes met, Jen could see the gratitude in George’s gaze. There was no fear or pain – just a spark of hope that seemed to say everything was about to get better.

When Jen talked about her new feline friend, she couldn’t help but rave about how sweet George was.
He was so comfortable around people and so used to interacting with them that Jen figured he must have been an indoor cat at some point in his life.
His social skills were amazing, and he was absolutely thrilled to finally be in the company of people who meant him no harm.

When it came to his health, George wasn’t in the best shape. He had a severe allergic skin reaction from excessive scratching caused by a flea infestation that had gone untreated for years.
As a result, he had lost part of his ears and suffered from a chronic upper respiratory infection, making him sneeze constantly and causing him to stop eating for a while.
Despite the challenges, Jen wasn’t discouraged. She bravely faced all of George’s health issues and got to work helping him.
As she explained in the interview:
“We got him antibiotic injections, steroid injections. We did oral antibiotics and pain medication. He also had rotting teeth that were falling out of his mouth, so we had those removed. We did laser therapy to help with the inflammation and to decrease the pain.”
But above all, the most powerful medicine George received was pure love!

As the days passed, George’s condition steadily improved. He continued to show everyone just how sweet and lovable he truly was.
Not once did he show any interest in going back outside!
He was completely content being an indoor cat, enjoying delicious meals and snuggling with his humans while listening to soothing music – just like the perfect house cat!
A New Beginning Filled With Love, Comfort, And Endless Purrs

George’s condition improved dramatically, and he no longer needed the emergency care provided by Jen and her team.
Because of that, he was then taken in by an amazing foster mom, Jadyn, who showered him with love and care.
Today, George is the happiest he’s ever been!
When Jen was asked what she would say to George if he could understand her, she replied:
“If I could tell George anything, I would say that we’re sorry that nobody came to his rescue sooner, but that he is now safe and cherished and he will be for the rest of his life.”
We’re all so happy that George found his happy ending.
Every cat deserves to be cherished and loved, and I hope George’s journey inspires others to open their hearts to a stray in need.
There’s nothing more rewarding than helping a cat who truly needs it, and I believe everyone should experience the joy of making a difference in an animal’s life at least once.
