Sally Skellington was adopted from the Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) and was living her best life in her new home.

But then, just a few months later, Sally suddenly stopped walking. It was as if a switch had been flipped, and her legs wouldn’t move at all.

Sally’s family was understandably devastated and shocked by this sudden change. They did what any caring pet owner would do and rushed her to an emergency vet clinic, hoping to find out what was wrong.

Sadly, even with their efforts, the vets couldn’t determine the cause of her paralysis. Wanting to do what was best for Sally, the family made the tough decision to return her to APA! so the dedicated team there could help figure out what was going on.

As it turned out, Sally arrived back at APA! just in the nick of time, as Luis Sanchez, director of public relations and communications at APA! shared in an interview:

“Sally made it just in time. It turns out Sally has FIP – feline infectious peritonitis. A once-fatal disease that APA! has pioneered treatments for, giving cats like Sally a fighting chance.”

Luckily, she was back with the people who could help her the most. The amazing team at APA! never gave up on Sally.

They worked hard to bring her back from the very brink, using their skills and innovative treatments to help her recover.

At first, no one knew how long it would take for her to get better. It was a waiting period filled with hope and support.

Then, in a moment that can only be described as pure joy, Sally surprised everyone by taking her first shaky but determined steps.

APA! couldn’t hide their excitement and shared the wonderful news on Facebook with a caption that captured the moment perfectly:

“Stop scrolling to witness a miracle! Walking isn’t groundbreaking for most cats, but for Sally, it’s life-changing.”

And they were absolutely right. For Sally, those first steps were not just about being able to walk; they were about taking back her life, overcoming a tough illness, and showing everyone her amazing strength.

Her rescuers cheered her on, feeling proud and relieved as she walked across the room at the shelter. Her steps might have been a bit wobbly and sideways, but she was walking! It was a clear victory. Luis mentioned:

“Thanks to groundbreaking care, Sally is already improving, regaining her strength, and even taking her first steps again.”

This little fighter has battled a tough challenge and is winning, taking one shaky step at a time.

And the good news doesn’t stop there! The little fighter is now on her way to a new forever home, where she will surely gain more confidence and keep learning to walk in a caring and supportive place.

This courageous cat has already faced so much in her young life, and every little progress she makes deserves to be celebrated. I think everybody would agree that her journey is truly inspiring!
