Florida Shelter In Tears After Welcoming A Tiny Kitten With A Permanent Shocked Look

This little kitten was discovered cold, injured, and completely on his own, struggling with a painful jaw.

Fortunately, the people who found him couldn’t ignore his plight and brought him straight to Pasco County Animal Services in Florida.

There, the compassionate staff took him in right away, giving him the urgent care he so desperately needed.

As his health improved, they also focused on helping him adjust for the life ahead, and it wasn’t long before he won over the heart of someone very special.

It all started when two caring volunteers, Emilie Rackovan and Haley from Thrifted Kittens Animal Rescue, went to Pasco County Animal Services to help with the influx of animals in need.

As volunteers worked alongside the weary staff, Emilie spotted the little tabby whose jaw injury was almost fully healed.

Despite his rough start and fragile state, he radiated determination, proving he had the strength and spirit to pull through.

But there was something else that made him truly special – it was his look. Emilie shared in an interview:

“We named him ‘Flabbergast’ because he looked to be in a constant state of shock.”

Flabbergast stole Emilie’s heart the moment she met him. As she and Haley got ready to head back home, they found themselves unable to shake the thought of the little tabby from their minds.

So, it didn’t take long for Emilie to make a final decision. She said:

“I decided to take him back with me. Thankfully, everyone immediately loved him, even though he screamed all the way through airport security.”

Along with Flabbergast, they decided to bring home another shelter cat named Socks. Before long, both cats were settled in and safe, beginning their new chapter together.

As soon as they arrived, little Flabbergast rushed to the food bowl and started eating as fast as he could. Emilie quickly realized he was a huge food lover. She added:

“He has a huge appetite and is always yelling for more food. He is feisty and playful, and watch out for your toes.”

Flabbergast quickly adjusted to his new surroundings, curling up for a nap after every meal.

Within only a few days in Emilie’s care, his progress was clear. He started to put on weight, gained strength, and his playful energy returned in full force.

Even after all he had endured, Flabbergast was soon darting around and playing just like any other lively kitten. One important challenge still lay ahead, though – his jaw surgery.

While waiting for that day, he filled his time with playful antics and cozy snuggles alongside his brother, Socks.

His resilience shone through, showing that nothing could hold him back from embracing life to the fullest.

When the day of his surgery finally came, there was a sense of worry in the air, particularly because Flabbergast was still such a young kitten.

But once again, Flabbergast exceeded everyone’s expectations and proved them wrong. Emilie shared:

“Our amazing veterinary team immediately got to work fixing his jaw, which was not easy given how small he was.”

Flabbergast came through the surgery like a true little warrior, acting as though nothing had happened at all.

His unstoppable spirit made recovery a bit tricky, since he was determined to keep playing and dashing around the house no matter what. Emilie shared:

“Even when he was wearing a cone, he was determined to leap incredible distances that other kittens his age would hesitate to attempt.”

Keeping Flabbergast calm proved nearly impossible, but it was also heartwarming to watch him throw himself into life with such joy.

With the help of his rescuers, he has grown into a healthy, handsome cat who no longer carries that startled look.

Most importantly, he’s thriving in his foster home and is now ready to embrace whatever the future brings.
