Stray Tabby Crashes A New York Wedding And Walks Away With A Forever Family

Some wedding moments are planned to perfection, the vows, the music, the flowers, but others are pure fate.
That’s exactly what happened when a tiny stray kitten unexpectedly wandered into Cara and Matt’s outdoor wedding, stealing the show and, eventually, their hearts.
A Surprise Guest At The Ceremony

It was a picture-perfect day as Matt stood before Cara, reading the vows he had lovingly written for her. Just as emotions reached their peak, a faint meow interrupted the moment.
Guests began to laugh quietly, and Cara quickly realised something unusual was happening.
“I was trying so hard to listen to the beautiful words my soon-to-be-husband had written for me, and all my best friends were laughing behind me.”

“(When) one of the groomsmen stuck his head out of the line with such a grin, I knew something was up. I didn’t notice the kitten till the moment I whipped around, and my maid of honor pointed out there was a cat.”
When Cara turned around, she spotted the source of the commotion, a tiny grey tabby kitten perched on a tree stump, watching the ceremony unfold like an invited guest.

The kitten sat quietly, meowing occasionally, as though determined to witness every word. It was such a touching sight that even the photographer paused to capture the moment.
The Perfect Sign For Two Cat Lovers

Cara and Matt were already cat parents to a fluffy feline named Gatsby, so the unexpected visitor felt almost symbolic.
“Our names together are Catt. We even had cat cake toppers. So this was kind of crazy.”

The kitten stayed for the rest of the ceremony, peacefully observing from her spot. When it was time for the couple to exchange rings, she quietly looked on, as though giving her little feline blessing.
After the ceremony ended, guests and staff tried to approach the kitten, but she darted away into the nearby bushes, too nervous to be caught.

Fortunately, the wedding venue staff offered to keep an eye on her, providing food and shelter until she felt safe enough to be rescued.
A week later, the kitten finally allowed herself to be picked up, and Cara and Matt didn’t hesitate. They brought her home and officially adopted her, naming her Daisy.

“I knew right away she had found her forever home with us on the drive home from picking her up. She sat so calmly in the carrier, purring, and licked my hand as I pet her.”
A Happy Family Of Four

Introducing Daisy to Gatsby took some patience, but the couple handled it carefully.
“It took about two weeks of slowly introducing them to each other, but they now really seem to enjoy one another.”

Today, Daisy has settled in beautifully. She’s energetic, affectionate, and always close to her humans.
“She is always bopping around getting into something. She is shy around new people, which makes her quick bonding to us even more of a phenomenon. She has become very attached to both of us. My other cat has also bonded with her quickly and follows her around, so now everything is a group activity.”
One of Daisy’s sweetest habits is waking her parents up at 4 a.m. with gentle licks, her way of saying good morning. Gatsby has also taken to his new sister, following her around the house and helping her “assist” with household chores like bed-making.

As Cara puts it,
“The cat distribution system was working overtime for this one – from meowing in the trees at wedding guests to my own shiny (Christmas tree) inside.”

Now, both cats are thriving, and their humans couldn’t be happier. The unexpected wedding guest who once meowed from the sidelines is now part of a loving family, proof that sometimes, the best surprises arrive when you least expect them.
