Texas Kitten Wore A Giant Cone And Screamed Until A Man Who Never Owned Cats Made A Surprising Choice
A casual trip to the local shelter turned into a life-changing day when a vocal 14-week-old kitten refused to let a couple walk past his cage.
A Casual Visit

Sometimes, the best things in life happen completely by accident. For Christina and her husband, a casual outing turned into a life-changing encounter.
They had no intention of adopting an animal that day. Christina had simply told her husband that they should go to the shelter because she wanted to pet some cats.
But as they walked through the facility, one tiny, vocal resident made sure they couldn’t ignore him.
Screaming For Attention

The couple spotted a tiny black kitten inside one of the enclosures. He was just 14 weeks old and weighed a mere two pounds.
He had been dropped off at the shelter with a couple of other kittens, having likely started his life living on the streets.
Now, he was desperately trying to get noticed. He was climbing on the cage and screaming his heart out, begging them to say hello.
The Giant Cone

Christina and her husband asked the shelter staff if they could pet the frantic little kitten. When they got a closer look, they noticed something endearing.
The tiny cat was wearing a huge medical cone on his head. He had just undergone a recent surgery, but the bulky collar wasn’t slowing him down.
Despite his rough start and his oversized cone, he was incredibly bright and cheery.
A Stunned Wife

As they interacted with the energetic kitten, Christina’s husband looked at her with a serious expression. He told her, "I want to get him."
Christina was completely stunned by his request. Her husband had never had a cat before, but this little guy had instantly stolen his heart.
Being an animal lover herself, Christina was completely on board. They adopted him and took him home that very same day.
Finding His Name
The shelter had given the kitten the name Tito, but the couple felt it just didn’t suit his vibrant personality.
They knew they couldn’t keep his name as Tito, but they weren’t sure what to call him. Then, inspiration struck from the television.
Christina was watching a show and suddenly knew exactly what his name should be: Lupin.
The Mirror Discovery
As Lupin settled into his new home, his incredibly fun personality began to shine. When he was about four or five months old, he discovered a large mirror in the house.
Seeing his own reflection for the first time, Lupin instantly stood up on his hind legs as if to say, "Hey, who are you?"
This marked the beginning of his signature move: a hilarious, sideways crab walk.
A Playful Routine
As Lupin grew older, his playful antics only multiplied. He developed a habit of hiding around corners, waiting for Christina to appear so he could perch up and initiate playtime.
Whether she was grabbing something from the closet or folding laundry, Lupin was always there doing his funny little dance.
His behavior is never aggressive, just completely playful. Christina says he acts like a little kid, meowing at the top of his lungs one minute and crab walking down the hallway the next.
Something Truly Special
Lupin has grown into a very handsome and social cat who surprisingly loves dogs. He also has a few unique physical traits that make him stand out.
Unlike many black cats with orange or yellow eyes, Lupin’s eyes are a striking green that fades into yellow. He also recently sprouted a tiny tuft of white hair on his chest.
For Christina, waking up every day to see and hear Lupin makes her life complete. Despite having cats in the past, she admits she has never had one quite as special as the tiny kitten who screamed for them at the shelter.
