New Jersey Man Opens Car Hood And Discovers Two Tiny Kittens Huddled Inside

When Tom, an EMT from New Jersey, was getting ready for work one morning, rescuing kittens was probably the last thing on his mind. Yet, that’s exactly what fate had in store for him.
During a shift at the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, Tom noticed something unusual on the security camera: two tiny kittens chasing each other around the building.
Being an avid animal lover, he decided to keep a close watch on them to make sure they stayed safe.
The following morning, before his partner even started the car, Tom hurried to check if the kittens had taken refuge there overnight.
As soon as he opened the hood, he found a tiny kitten perched atop the car engine.

The little guy immediately tried to dart further into the engine compartment, but Tom managed to catch him and carefully pull him out.
The kitten fought back, clinging tightly to the car, and Tom ended up with a few scratches in the process.
Recognizing the kitten from the security footage, Tom knew his sibling had to be nearby. When the second kitten appeared, Tom caught him too, this time using a glove for extra safety.

Tom placed both kittens in a box with a blanket and called his girlfriend, Emily, to fill her in on the unexpected rescue. They decided to bring the kittens home temporarily to care for them.
Since Emily volunteered at Kizzy’s Place, a small foster-based rescue in New Jersey, she reached out to them to provide temporary foster care until the kittens were ready for adoption.

The two tabbies, later named Buddy and Wally, quickly settled into their new home. Once they felt safe, their playful personalities shone through.
They were affectionate lap cats who loved snuggling with their humans, but they were also full of energy. Danielle, a volunteer at Kizzy’s Place, shared:
“The kittens blossomed in foster care, especially since they discovered toys. Buddy loves string and Wally loves stuffed animals and toys with bells.”
It was clear Buddy and Wally were in loving hands and a perfect environment.
Meet The Whole Family
Buddy and Wally soon met their older feline brothers, Austin and Arthur, who quickly became their guides to the ways of cat life.
In addition to bonding with their brothers, the kittens developed a special connection with their dog sister, Arya.

Arya had always been cat-friendly, so she welcomed the new kittens and happily showed them around like a caring older sibling.
Between the two, Wally was especially attached to Arya.

Being the more outgoing kitten, he constantly followed her, nuzzled her face, and stayed close wherever she went, as captured in a short video shared by Kizzy’s Place.
Although more reserved, Buddy also adored Arya, and she returned the affection.
So, What Happened To Buddy And Wally?

Tom and Emily had originally planned to only foster Buddy and Wally. When the kittens were ready, they expected to go to new homes with other families.
At one point, Emily admitted how much she loved the kittens and hoped their future owners would care for them as much as she did.
But it turned out their forever family was already in place: Tom and Emily themselves.

Emily commented on Instagram:
“We kept them because we couldn’t part from them. Buddy and Wally LOVE their mommy dog (Arya) and their two cat brothers Austin and Arthur! They are doing fantastic and we are totally foster fails.”
While “foster fails” might be a playful term, there’s no doubt the kittens found a loving and caring home. With Arya, Austin, and Arthur by their side, Buddy and Wally were perfectly settled.

Tom and Emily’s story teaches a few valuable lessons: always check your car for hidden kittens, and never hesitate to foster or adopt pets.
Sharing your life with animals is endlessly rewarding, and Buddy and Wally’s journey is proof of that.
