Utah Cat Rejected From Shows Because Of His Looks Finds Solace In An Office

I couldn’t help but laugh the first time I saw a picture of Pompous Albert. His face alone was enough to make me snort, but when I learned his name, I completely lost it.

Naturally, I had to dig deeper and share the story of this unforgettable feline with you. So, allow me to introduce Pompous Albert, a cat who managed to turn his perpetual scowl into internet fame and love from fans all over the world.

As his Instagram bio once revealed, Pompous Albert was actually a rejected show cat from the Selkirk Rex breed.

He got his clever name from none other than Albert Einstein, thanks to his wild, curly fur that looked like a mad scientist’s hairstyle.

But instead of taking the show ring, Albert found his forever home in the office of a small business in Salt Lake City, Utah. There, he lived the good life surrounded by people and a couple of other feline friends.

His owners adored his one-of-a-kind look and thought others might get a kick out of it too, so they decided to post a photo of him online — just for fun. What they didn’t expect was for their grumpy-looking office cat to explode into an overnight sensation.

Once the first photos went viral, people couldn’t get enough of Albert’s hilariously unimpressed expression.

Every picture told a story, and in each one, he looked completely fed up with the world, whether someone was petting him, snapping a selfie, or letting him sit in peace.

His resting “judge face” became iconic. Before long, his owners created an official Instagram account for their sulky superstar, and Pompous Albert’s fame skyrocketed.

Fans flooded his page, sharing memes, fan art, and thousands of comments about how his unimpressed glare made their day better.

“Don’t you feel judged by his stare?” one fan joked — and honestly, it was hard not to. No matter the setting, Albert’s face said it all: he was above it all, and he knew it.

But behind all the laughs and the perfectly timed photos, Albert’s owners had a bigger mission.

They used his popularity to raise awareness about animal adoption and rescue spreading positivity and hope through their famously fussy cat. His story reminded people that every animal, no matter how different, deserves a loving home.

Farewell To Pompous Albert

Sadly, after years of bringing laughter and joy to people worldwide, Pompous Albert’s journey came to an end.

His passing was sudden but peaceful, and his owners shared the heartbreaking news with his devoted followers in a heartfelt Instagram post, written from Albert’s perspective:

“After living & sharing my most exceptional life, with you my loyal fans, co-workers & family– My brilliant life has come to an end. I could not have asked for more, a voice for uniqueness, sarcasm, adoption/rescue & humor. I had feline friends Lucky & Buddy, my cat dad Mike aka Ned. I was sweeter than I let on, but still loved biting & clawing hair & pushing things off desks. I enjoyed my fame as it gave me all of you wonderful followers whom I felt were friends.”

They ended the post with:

“Oh what a ride, so I’m off to the rainbow bridge where I shall hang out with new friends eternally in a never-ending sunny spot. Oh, what is the office going to do without me?”

No one really knows how the office feels without him, but it’s safe to say there’s an empty chair and a quiet space where a very pompous little cat once ruled.

Losing a pet that’s brought so much laughter and love is never easy, and Albert will forever be remembered as the grumpy, glorious king of sass who made the internet a happier place.
