Kittens have a knack for finding trouble in the most unexpected places, often without realizing how dangerous the world can be for them.
Their innocence is part of their charm, and luckily, there are amazing people out there who go above and beyond to keep them safe. One such hero is Florida’s very own “Cat Cop,” who came to the rescue of a feisty little kitten named Ace Aventura.
Just like his namesake, Jim Carrey’s Ace Ventura, this kitten had quite the wild adventure!
Little Ace’s Big Rescue
Officer Gretchen Byrne is known for her frequent kitten rescues in Coral Springs, and she thought it was just a typical day, but this time, the call came from Aventura!
Just north of Miami, a gray fluffball named Ace was wandering the streets all alone.
A tiny, helpless kitten wouldn’t have lasted long in such a busy area, but thankfully, a kind UPS driver spotted him.
The driver scooped up the kitten and brought him into the truck for safety. Soon after, Ace found himself in not one, but two police cars, all on his way to Officer Byrne – his new foster mom.
Ace arrived bundled up in a canvas bag, but he wasn’t about to stay put. The little kitten wriggled free and jumped straight into Gretchen’s arms. Considering all he’d been through in just one day, it was a miracle he made it safely to her.
“Ace Aventura was a prisoner drop-off right before the end of shift,” Officer Byrne joked. “So far, he’s been in a UPS truck and two police cars!”
When you see the pictures of tiny Ace, it’s hard to believe he’s real – he’s just that cute!
With the humid weather, Ace’sfur started getting all frizzy, making him look like a blue-eyed teddy bear with oversized paws. As Officer Byrne shared on Instagram:
“Frizz is gonna be out of control with this rainy weather we are supposed to be getting.”
At this age, Ace’s eyes were still that bright kitten-blue, which would soon start changing to his adult eye color over the next few weeks.
Overcoming Some Common Kitten Troubles
After a few days in his new foster home, Ace was still as cute as ever but dealing with some typical kitten problems. Like many kittens found alone outside, he developed a bit of an upset tummy.
Officer Byrne lovingly referred to it as dealing with the “butt demons” (aka the runs). It almost sounds like something straight out of an Ace Ventura movie, doesn’t it?
Fortunately, Ace bounced back quickly from his little digestive troubles and was soon back to his wild, playful self in the kitten academy.
Can you imagine this tiny ball of energy loose on the streets of Florida? What a sight that must’ve been!
A Bright Future Ahead
Now, Ace spends his days in the BKA nursery, playing and causing adorable mischief. With a belly full of food and nothing to worry about, Ace gets to enjoy a carefree kittenhood – the way it should be.
Watching kittens like Ace thrive and have fun is the biggest reward for foster parents and everyone following his journey online.
As soon as Ace is ready for adoption, there’s no doubt he’ll bring endless joy and laughter to his new forever home. For more updates on Ace and other adorable rescues, follow them on Instagram.
