Cats have a unique ability to worm their way into our hearts and leave lasting memories, even long after they’ve gone.

In San Jose, California, a woman has been missing the feline companion she had as a child and has been yearning for a cat just like the one she once loved..

This longing had stayed with her for over fifty years, tracing back to 1967 when a young girl, now Allie’s stepmom, formed an unforgettable bond with a fluffy orange kitten.

That little furball quickly became her best friend, someone she could confide in. But, as often happens, time passed and the cat eventually crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Though the years that followed were filled with cherished memories, she never found another cat to fill the emptiness left behind by her beloved companion.

The desire for that special bond never faded, and she continued to hope that one day she would experience it again.

Fast forward to today – Allie, a dedicated foster parent, took in a group of kittens. Among them was a chubby little orange cutie named Drumstick.

From the moment her stepmother met Drumstick, an immediate bond formed between them. They both felt it.

Her stepmom was immediately taken with him, sensing there was something special about this little kitten.

After a smooth introduction to their current cat, it was clear – Drumstick, soon to be called Colonel Mewett, was meant to be part of their family forever.

But Drumstick’s journey hadn’t always been easy. He had been found all alone in a park when he was just two days old, and tragically, he lost his siblings.

Fortunately, a kind soul stepped in to rescue him, and a neonate expert provided the care and attention he needed to survive. Under Allie’s watchful eye, Drumstick thrived.

True to his nickname, he grew quickly. From the very beginning, he had a relaxed, easygoing personality that made him a joy to care for.

Whether he was curled up on the couch purring contentedly or calmly riding in the car, Drumstick seemed unfazed by everything around him. Even during nail trimming time, he remained remarkably calm.

Colonel Mewett has found his forever home and is ready to begin a fresh new chapter in his life.

With his playful antics and calm demeanor, he’s bound to bring endless joy to his new family.

For his human mom, Colonel Mewett is a heartwarming reunion with the feline companionship she cherished so much in her younger years.

How beautiful is this story?

I absolutely loved it! I’m beyond happy for Allie’s stepmom and Colonel Mewett – they truly deserve all the purrs and snuggles in the world!

This is exactly why fostering is so crucial – it gives wonderful animals like Colonel Mewett a second chance and brings immeasurable joy to both the foster family and their forever home.
