One day, he led the little kitten to the safety of Elizabeth Egeland’s home. Elizabeth, who lives in Massachusetts, was puzzled to discover a tiny two-week-old kitten wandering in her basement.
Unsure of where the kitten had come from, Elizabeth checked her basement security camera for answers.
The footage revealed Red, a cat who often visited her home for food and a place to rest, carefully bringing the tiny kitten inside through the window.
However, this time he wasn’t by himself – he was carefully holding a tiny kitten in his mouth, which was believed to be his son. As Elizabeth shared on Reddit:
“We have this stray/part-time Cat Red that stayed the winter with us. 9 days ago he delivered us a 2 week old kitten! My partner didn’t think the security camera had that much storage, but today I decided to investigate for myself, and here are the 8 glorious seconds of Red’s delivery! I’m so thankful he trusts me enough to care for what we suspect is his son”.
Elizabeth was deeply moved, noticing the immense trust Red placed in her. She found it remarkable that he saw her home as a safe haven for the tiny kitten.
At first, though, they had no idea how Red had found the kitten or why he decided to bring it to her house.
Elizabeth reached out to her neighbors, hoping someone might recognise the kitten, but her efforts didn’t lead anywhere.
It soon became clear that Red’s timing was perfect. Just after he brought the tiny kitten inside, a severe storm hit the area. Without Red’s intervention, the little one could have been in serious danger.
The kitten, named Fluffernutter for his soft, fluffy fur, quickly became part of Elizabeth’s life.
She took on the responsibility of caring for him, showering him with love and attention so he could thrive.
