LA Homeowners Find A Newborn Kitten In Their Yard, Then Notice Something Unusual On Her Face
A lot of abandoned kittens never get the chance to be saved, but this tiny newborn was one of the lucky ones.
Only a day old and born with a rare cleft nose, the fragile little kitten was found completely alone in someone’s backyard. She was so small and vulnerable that it was hard to imagine how she had ended up there in the first place.
Thankfully, a few kindhearted people spotted her just in time and quickly stepped in, determined to make sure the tiny survivor would finally be safe.
The kitten’s fortune truly turned around when Ashley Kelley, a foster volunteer from Wrenn Rescues in Los Angeles, saw a post about her.
She shared some details of a heartwarming rescue in an interview:
“Someone had found a solo kitten. It still had closed eyes and was meowing a lot, and obviously hungry. Something told me that I needed to go get it immediately. I got in touch with the finder, grabbed a mask and gloves, and hopped in my car.”
A kind woman heard the faint cries of meowing coming from somewhere near her house.
Following the sound, she made her way to the backyard, where she was stunned to find a newborn kitten lying there all alone.
She carefully picked up the kitten and placed her in a warm spot, hoping that the mother cat would come back. Sadly, she never returned.
The poor kitten was probably abandoned by her mother right after she was born. Ashley explained:
“Unfortunately, that is how nature works sometimes. Mamas leave their weak, incompatible-with-life babies and focus on their healthy ones.”
With her experience in fostering, Ashley immediately took the kitten into her care. Aside from the kitten’s cleft nose, which she found rather endearing, there was nothing else unusual about her.
Upon arriving home, Ashley immediately began tube-feeding the kitten, explaining:
“She has a teeny tiny hole in her palate along with the cleft nose, so it’s not safe to bottle-feed her. She needs to be tube-fed.”
From the moment Ashley took the kitten under her care, she could see her incredible will to live. Therefore, Ashley named the kitten Aela to highlight her warrior spirit, adding:
“She’s named after a video game character I always loved, who is a strong and fierce warrior, and is unique from most people.”
Though she’s tiny, Aela already has a good understanding of things. She lets you know when she’s hungry and, once her tummy is full, she eagerly gets ready for cuddles.
Aela already recognizes Ashley’s scent, as if she understands who’s actually helping her. Ashley is content with Aeala’s overall progress, saying:
“Other than needing to be tube-fed, she is a remarkably normal kitten so far.”
Day by day, Aela continues to thrive. She keeps pushing forward, proving to everyone that she’s not giving up despite her rough start in life.
We all hope that one day, Aela will find a loving home, a well-deserved reward for such a brave and adorable kitten.
