Arkansas Woman Adopts Timid Rescue Cat With Wonky Jaw, Says “My Whole World Changed”
Every cat has their own way of moving through the world. Some keep their distance, preferring quiet corners and cautious observation. Others walk right up to strangers as if they’ve never met a person they didn’t like.
And then there are the cats who catch you completely off guard. This striking tortoiseshell, with her slightly crooked jaw and one-of-a-kind face, was one of those cats.
There was something special about her from the very beginning. And thanks to a single message from someone willing to help, her life was about to change forever.
When Mauren, a cat lover from Little Rock, Arkansas, heard from friends who said, “You need to see this,” she didn’t hesitate. Something in their tone told her it mattered.
Minutes later, Mauren found herself standing in a parking lot, and her heart sank. Scattered across the pavement were tiny kittens, vulnerable and exposed, waiting for someone to care enough to stop.
Her heart soared with excitement, knowing this was the perfect opportunity to finally bring home a kitten of her own.
As she approached to look at the kittens, one particular tortie kitten with a wonky jaw caught her eye. She shared in a video:
“The moment I laid my eyes on Gremlin, my whole world changed.”
Gremlin was born with a wonky jaw, a condition veterinarians call malocclusion. This occurs when the lower jaw is shorter or misaligned with the upper one, often leaving the cat’s tongue sticking out.
Mauren didn’t let that stop her. She was captivated by Gremlin’s striking green eyes and sweet nature, overlooking any imperfections.
At home, Gremlin was shy and reserved, barely letting out a meow as she took in her new surroundings.
Mauren felt a pang of worry, knowing Gremlin needed time to settle into her new home. She patiently gave her space, and little by little, Gremlin began to open up.
At first, she followed Mauren everywhere, hesitant to be alone. As Mauren spoke gently to her, Gremlin eventually started responding, revealing the start of her chatty, charming
Many thought a cat as timid as Gremlin would always stay shy, but she proved that with patience, anything is possible.
Just like that, Gremlin is now one of the most talkative kitties that I know. Mauren added:
“If there was an award for the most talkative cat in the world, Gremlin would win.”
Gremlin is now living a life beyond her wildest dreams. Each morning she greets her human with kisses and cuddles, and every night she loves her back scratches.
She’s basically living her best life. Mauren jokes:
“Gremlin is such a chatterbox. Her name should be ‘Sir Meows-A-Lot.’”
Grateful for the bond they share, Mauren feels blessed to have found Gremlin. She believes that everyone deserves a chance for a better life, saying:
“No matter what an animal has been through, they always deserve a loving home.”
From now on, Mauren and Gremlin plan to keep enjoying life together, possibly welcoming a few more cats along the way, and I wish them all the best!
