His previous owners placed him in a cardboard box, left it open, and abandoned him on a stranger’s stoop.
The photos from that day were devastating to look at.
He was huddled in the very back of the box, looking up with absolute fear in his eyes.
A Stressed Soul
Thankfully, the person who found him didn’t turn a blind eye.
They brought the scared feline inside and immediately contacted a local adoption agency.
The rescue placed the nervous cat in a foster home alongside other cats.
Unfortunately, the busy environment proved to be overwhelming for him.
He was incredibly stressed and struggled to settle into his new surroundings.
Taking A Chance
When it came time for an adoption event, the cat was completely shut down.
He clearly wasn’t opening up to potential adopters who walked by.
That’s when Jack and Claire noticed the frightened little guy.

The staff joked that because his eyes were so extremely crossed, it looked like he was trying to look at "both of us" at the same time.
While they loved his unique look, the couple wanted to give him a fresh start.

They assumed he would find a quiet corner to feel safe and avoid engaging with them.

He even started sleeping in their bed every night, trying to play with them until the sun came up.
Morning Routines And A Special Chair
Bubbles soon developed his own adorable daily routines.
Every morning around 10:00, while his parents enjoy their coffee, he gives them a very specific meow.
They know exactly what it means: it’s time for him to jump into their laps for morning cuddles.
He also laid claim to a gray office chair originally bought for his humans.
It has since become his "emotional support chair," and he has thoroughly made his mark on it.
Facing A Medical Hurdle
About a year after bringing Bubbles home, the couple noticed a change in his health.
The vet diagnosed the sweet cat with feline asthma.
Now, he requires an inhaler treatment twice a day, every morning and night, for the rest of his life.
Although he is very particular about being touched or picked up, he has grown incredibly patient.
Over time, he has gotten really good at accepting his daily treatments.
A Growing Family
Knowing how much love Bubbles had to give, Jack and Claire decided to expand their family.
About a year after adopting Bubbles, they went back to the exact same agency.
They brought home another cat named Beans to be a companion for their first boy.
They thought it would be nice for Bubbles to have a feline friend in the house.
The two cats quickly became the center of their humans’ world.
Worth Every Sneeze
The adoption journey brought major lifestyle changes, especially since one of his parents grew up in an anti-cat, dog-only household.
Dealing with severe cat allergies meant committing to regular allergy shots just to live comfortably.
"I’m a little itchy all the time, but Bubbles and Beans just feel like the crux of our lives," they shared.
Jack and Claire still have no idea who his original owners were or why they left him on that stoop.
But they hope it wasn’t because of his crossed eyes, because to them, it’s one of his absolute best features.
