Pennsylvania Stray Cat Missing Half His Ear And Tail Discovers A Warm Porch That Feels Like Home
A chatty stray cat missing half his teeth and tail spent years wandering a neighborhood until a kind resident stepped in, sparking a beautiful friendship and a new rescue mission.
A Shadow In The Neighborhood

For a long time, the rough-around-the-edges stray cat was just a fleeting sight in the neighborhood.
Mig first noticed the feline, who would eventually be named Toup, while she was still in high school and living at home with her family.
At first, they would only spot him every few months, usually tucked away far down the road.
He seemed to be surviving by going through people’s trash, getting by on the occasional scraps left out by neighbors.
The Meaning Of A Tipped Ear

It was clear that Toup had crossed paths with humans before.
He sported a tipped ear, a universal sign that a community cat has been neutered and released back to where he was found.
Because of this, he was deemed okay to live outdoors, but Mig soon realized a heartbreaking truth.
Despite being fixed, Toup didn’t actually have a dedicated caretaker looking out for him.
Building Trust Through Meals

Knowing the cat had no one to rely on, Mig and her family decided to take that responsibility onto themselves.
They started setting out food for the wandering stray, hoping to make his hard life just a little bit easier.
The more they fed him, the more frequently he began to come around the house.
Mig could sense that the weary cat was incredibly thankful for the consistent meals.
A Very Chatty Arrival

As Toup grew more comfortable with his new friends, his vibrant personality began to shine through.
He wasn’t just a quiet, timid stray anymore; he was a highly vocal and expressive companion.
Whenever Mig would put food out, Toup would come screeching up to the house and waddle onto the porch.
Mig fondly describes him as being full of screeches and simply a "meowy little man."
Testing The Waters
The routine continued for a year or two, forging a strong bond between the chatty cat and his caretakers.
Eventually, Mig moved out of her family’s house, but she only went right across the street.
Because Toup was coming around so often, she decided it was time to see if he wanted more than just a porch.
She began bringing him inside, gently testing the waters to see how the lifelong stray would handle indoor life.
The Big Transition
In 2018, Mig officially started the transition to make Toup an indoor cat.
She knew he was a senior guy—likely at least 10 years old, if not older—and he had spent a very long time braving the elements.
Her goal was simply to provide him with a safe sanctuary where he could finally rest.
To her delight, Toup settled into his new comfortable life surprisingly quickly.
Safe From The Elements
Today, Toup occasionally goes outside, but he never wants to stay out for very long.
Mig lives near the woods, and she is hyper-aware of the wildlife that could cause harm to an older cat.
Because of this, she makes absolutely sure that Toup is safely tucked inside every single night.
He has also grown to despise cold paws and rainy weather, preferring to only venture out when the sun is shining.
The Center Of Attention
Leaving the harsh outdoor life behind completely transformed Toup’s social life.
He blossomed into a highly affectionate cat who absolutely loves being the center of attention.
Whenever guests come over to visit, Toup makes sure he is right in the middle of the action.
He greets everyone, making sure that every single person says hello to him.
A Legacy Of Rescue
The special bond Mig shares with Toup brings her immense joy, especially during their morning routine of coffee and "screeches."
But Toup’s impact goes far beyond his own comfortable retirement.
Inspired by this wise old man, Mig started an animal rescue called the Biscuit Factory, building a network of foster homes to help even more cats in need.
Though Toup is missing half his ear, half his teeth, and half his tail, he is the undeniable "top dog" of the house, living the wonderfully full life he always deserved.
