New Jersey Cat Trapped Under A Car For 800 Miles Gets The Rescue He Desperately Needed
When a college junior drove 800 miles back to campus, she had no idea a tiny stowaway was clinging to the underside of her car the entire time.
A Long Journey Home

Jadyn Sawyer, a college junior at the University of Georgia, was simply making her usual drive back to campus.
The New Jersey native had a long trek ahead of her, driving nearly 11 hours and 800 miles across multiple state lines.
She had no idea that she wasn’t making the exhausting road trip alone.
Somewhere along the way, a tiny, four-legged stowaway had decided to hitch a ride in the most dangerous place possible.
A Heart-Stopping Discovery

When Jadyn finally parked her car in Athens, Georgia, she was ready to rest.
But as she stepped out of her vehicle, she noticed something completely unexpected.
Reaching out from underneath the undercarriage of her car was a tiny cat’s paw.
Panic immediately set in as she realized a live animal had been trapped under there for her entire 800-mile journey.
A Frantic Call For Help

Jadyn immediately called her friends and campus authorities for help.
"I said, ‘There’s a cat in my car,’" she recalled. When a friend suggested she roll down the windows, Jadyn had to clarify the terrifying reality: "Not in that way. It’s in my car."
As a self-proclaimed cat lover, the student was devastated by the thought of the animal being hurt.
"If it was my responsibility that something bad happened to it, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself," she explained.
Rallying A Rescue Team

Campus police quickly arrived on the scene to assess the situation.
Realizing they needed specialized animal rescue experience, they reached out to Kelly Bettinger with the Campus Cats Zip Alliance.
When Kelly arrived, she could see the poor feline was completely stuck.
"He was so jammed in up under the undercarriage. I still don’t know how he got where he was," Kelly said.
An Impossible Predicament
The rescue team tried everything to coax the frightened animal out of his hiding spot.
UGA police even brought out their own tools and started removing bolts from the car.
Despite their best efforts, they still couldn’t reach the trapped stowaway.
The cat was wedged too deeply into the vehicle’s framework, and they knew they needed heavy-duty help.
Calling In The Experts
Refusing to give up on the tiny survivor, Kelly called in the professionals at a local Tires Plus on College Station Road.
The mechanics didn’t hesitate to step in and help save a life.
Crews began carefully dismantling parts of Jadyn’s car, taking it apart piece by piece.
Finally, after a tense and delicate operation, they were able to reach the furry passenger and pull him to safety.
Defying The Summer Heat
Chris Hinely from Tires Plus noted just how miraculous this rescue truly was.
While mechanics occasionally see animals crawl under cars, it is incredibly rare during the sweltering heat of summer.
"Usually see them in cooler months, though, when they’re looking for someplace warm," Chris explained.
Against all odds, this little feline had survived the heat, the highway speeds, and the 11-hour duration of the trip.
A Fitting Name For A Survivor
After his unexpected 800-mile journey, the resilient stray is finally resting in safe hands.
His rescuers have fittingly given him the name "Jersey" to honor his incredible cross-country adventure.
Despite being a little shaken up from the ordeal, Jersey is doing wonderfully in his recovery.
Thanks to a compassionate student and a dedicated rescue team, this miracle cat will soon be looking for the loving, indoor home he truly deserves.
