Passed By For Being Too Old
For 14 years, a gentle cat named Beanie knew only one home and one loving owner.

Yet, while Beanie sometimes struggles just to get up on the couch, she magically finds the strength to jump onto the kitchen counter. Her ultimate goal? Stealing butter when no one is looking.
A Healing Presence
Beanie’s adoption wasn’t just a rescue for the cat; it became a vital source of healing for Nozomi. Nozomi receives at-home therapy for CPTSD, and some sessions can be incredibly difficult to navigate.
During one particularly hard therapy session, Beanie did something remarkable. Even though her stiff, aging joints make it uncomfortable to stay in one position for long, the senior cat climbed into Nozomi’s lap.
She refused to move, staying anchored there for a full half hour while Nozomi worked through the hardest parts of her session.
Nozomi’s therapist was amazed, noting that it was some of the best work she had done, and credited the cat’s calming presence.
Celebrating Every Milestone
Nozomi had always assumed she would pick out a new name for her future cat. However, the thought of changing Beanie’s name after she had carried it for 14 years just didn’t sit right with her.
Today, Beanie has been with her new family for a year and a half, making her around 16 years old. Because her exact history is a bit of a mystery, she gets to celebrate two birthdays every year—one in April and another in September.
For a cat who once waited alone in a shelter, every single day is now worth celebrating. She finally has the loving, forever home she always deserved.
