Cardboard Box With A Heartbreaking Note Abandoned In Front Of A Shelter

Sharing is caring!

Back in my college days, I landed a summer job in our local animal shelter. What I thought was about to be the best summer ever turned into a heartbreak for me.

Once I learned just how many animals are abandoned, mistreated, and forgotten, my whole world turned upside down.

To this day, I still admire people working or volunteering at shelters because it’s definitely a tough job.

Just the other day I heard another abandonment story from a local animal shelter, so get ready to hear all about it.

It was a busy day at the shelter, with many volunteers running around and making sure the cats and dogs were well taken care of.

One of the volunteers went outside for his break when he saw a strange cardboard box left in the shelter’s driveway.

Confused, the young volunteer approached the box. He noticed a large piece of paper duct-taped to the top, and at first, he thought it was some kind of donation.

However, once he came closer to the box he soon learned the soul-crushing truth. Inside the box, five newborn kittens were curled up next to each other.

Someone placed a wool coat at the bottom, hoping it would keep the tiny souls warm. The volunteer instantly forgot about his break and rushed the kittens inside.

The note simply said:

“Please help on them. They were born on 8/24. God bless you.”

The saddest thing about all this was that the kittens were separated from their mom way too early. Their eyes were still shut, and their umbilical cords were still attached!

The staff assessed the kittens and luckily they seemed to be healthy. They immediately reached out to their foster volunteers and within hours the kittens found themselves in a safe and loving foster home.

Now, I get it – it’s better to leave the kittens in front of a shelter than just toss them on the streets. I can’t help but wonder, is this really necessary?

If you as a cat parent are unable to care for potential kittens, then spay and neuter your feline companions.

Like this many innocent kittens would be spared of living in a shelter environment, without a place to call their own.
