No matter how tough life gets, many people still manage to smile, overcoming negativity with positivity. It’s a quality I deeply admire in people and one I always strive to maintain.
But this quality isn’t just for humans – our animal friends often stay positive in challenging situations, too! To prove my point, here’s the story of a lovely feline named Nala.
Nala’s Story
Nala is an adorable black and white cat with the most radiant smile I have ever seen. A few years ago, a good Samaritan found her as a very pregnant stray struggling to give birth.
Her savior rushed her to the local veterinary clinic, where she underwent an emergency c-section and gave birth to two kittens.
Tragically, one of the kittens didn’t survive, leaving Nala and her surviving kitten to face life’s challenges together.
Thankfully, a local animal protection group took in Nala and her kitten, where the staff warmly welcomed the young mother and her baby.
Committed to giving them a second chance at a better life, the shelter staff nurtured both felines, helping them thrive.
Over the following weeks, Nala’s kitten grew strong and independent, eventually finding a loving forever home.
Nala, too, blossomed in the shelter’s care, although finding her own forever home proved to be more challenging…
Shelter Kitty With A Radiant Smile
Due to her unique appearance, Nala struggled to find someone willing to take her home.
Being born with a cleft palate, she had what looked like a permanent smile, which, while endearing to some, deterred others.
She also had a rare skin condition that required a special hypoallergenic diet, making it harder for her to get adopted.
Brave Nala never let her challenges discourage her from being the sweetest cat. Her friendly personality and charming nature always shone through, making her the shelter’s most lovable resident.
Each time she saw a visitor, she would rush to the glass window and meow excitedly to get their attention.
With her adorable grin stretched from ear to ear, this lovely girl did her best to win the hearts of potential adopters.
Ineke Kamps, a volunteer at the shelter, experienced firsthand just how friendly and affectionate Nala can be.
In an interview, she shared that Nala is happiest when she’s with a human, particularly one who loves to cuddle as much as she does.
When asked about the ideal home for Nala, Ineke suggested:
“The perfect home for her would be a house with a (fenced) garden, with humans who are at home a lot and who don’t have a problem with her special diet.”
She also mentioned that this smiley feline doesn’t mind the company of other kitties but needs to be separated during mealtime.
Some worried that these requirements were too much and that Nala would never find her perfect home. However, life, as it often does, had other plans…
Happily Ever After For Nala
Fortunately for Nala, a special visitor came to the shelter one day and instantly fell in love with her.
All that smiling at strangers finally paid off for this lovely girl! Her dream finally came true, and she was adopted by a loving family.
According to Ineke:
“She is doing very well and gets along with all the other animals she has.”
Nala truly deserved a forever home, and I’m so happy she eventually found one. I hope she spends the rest of her life with her beloved new owner, bearing her adorable smile every step of the way!
