Vet Finds A Box Of Kittens At Doorstep, But What Happens Next Leaves Her In Shock
Julie Wills showed up to work that morning anticipating a routine day—one filled with checkups, vaccines, and tending to her usual lineup of furry patients.
But what she didn’t expect was to find an abandoned box sitting right at the doorstep of Mill Road Vet Clinic.
Julie was no stranger to surprises in her work as a veterinarian, but nothing quite prepared her for what she found that day.
When she looked inside the box, her heart sank. Curled up inside were several tiny kittens, barely old enough to survive on their own, clinging to each other for warmth and comfort—a heartbreaking yet undeniably precious sight.
Recounting the moment to the media, she said:
“We took them in and got them all set up in the incubator. We all fell in love with them. We did have the option of taking them to the SPCA but decided because they were so adorable we were happy to look after them.”
Inside the box were four tiny kittens—three white tabby boys and one black tabby girl—estimated to be only 3 to 4 weeks old. Far too young to survive on their own, they needed urgent attention and round-the-clock care.
Nicole, one of the vet nurses, stepped up without hesitation. She took the kittens home that night, making sure they were warm, fed, and safe.
The next morning, she returned to the clinic with the little ones in tow, ready to continue caring for them. But as she approached the entrance, she spotted something strange—an adult tabby cat hovering near the door, fixated on getting inside.
No matter what came her way—not even the parade of barking dogs—this determined cat refused to leave. With every client who walked in, she tried to slip through the door. Finally, the staff decided to let her in… and what happened next took everyone by surprise.
The veterinary staff quickly realized that their feline guest was the nursing mother of the four kittens found the day before! Sharing the revelation with their Facebook friends, they wrote:
“Then the penny dropped! Sure enough, we introduced her to the ‘orphan’ kittens & there was a very happy reunion! Presumably she had been in the box too & escaped before we arrived for work. She’s probably been prowling around all night looking for her kidnapped kittens!”
Once reunited, the mother cat immediately began affectionately grooming her babies.
One of the vet staff members decided to take the entire feline family to her father who would foster them until they found a permanent home.
They named the mother Gabby, and the kittens Tyron, Muffin, Benny, and Dobby.
The vet’s father, Rex, fell head over heels for Gabby, deciding to adopt her for good.
This lovely mama now lives on a farm, living her best feline life. And plus – she got spayed, too!
Her kittens, once weaned, found their forever homes as well. The entire family received the happy ending they deserved, which truly warms my heart!
