A couple of weeks ago, a kind man was walking down the street when he spotted a struggling kitten in the distance, crawling across the road.
Heartbroken by what he saw, he rushed over to help.
The tiny feline, likely hit by a speeding car, had lost all mobility in his hind legs. The poor kitten was desperately trying to climb over the sidewalk, but his frail, injured body couldn’t manage.
Determined to save him, the man gently scooped him up and hurried to the nearest vet hospital.
At The Vet Hospital
Upon seeing the kitten’s condition, the vet immediately took him in and performed an X-ray.
The results revealed that the little feline had a fractured tailbone and was suffering from pneumothorax, a serious condition where excess air accumulates around the lungs.
He was also extremely thin, malnourished, and in significant pain, and his body temperature was dangerously low.
In order to do any surgery or treatment, they first needed to stabilize his condition.
The veterinarian decided to keep the kitten at the hospital for three days to help him regain strength.
The team provided excellent care, offering him nutritious food – which he eagerly ate – and did everything they could to improve his condition.
Initially, the kitten was anxious, always looking for an escape, but with the kind attention from the hospital staff, he soon relaxed, realizing he was in good hands.
The next day, once his condition had slightly improved, the vet began treating his pneumothorax. Exhausted from everything, the kitten fell asleep during the procedure.
The doctor used this opportunity to examine his hind legs again and informed the kind man who had brought him in that there was still hope for him to walk again.
Since the kitten was only about two months old, the likelihood of his legs recovering was quite high.
The news filled the man with joy. Feeling a strong connection to the tiny kitten, he vowed to do everything possible to help him recover and live a more fulfilling life.
He named his new friend Six-Six, eager to see where their journey would take them.
After the treatment, Six-Six was placed in an incubator to rest and recover. The poor feline struggled to lift his head, meowing in pain for help – a truly heartbroken sight!
Soon, the vet returned with a CAT scan, revealing that in addition to the broken tailbone, an entire bone connecting his tail to his body was missing.
This complication made future surgery even more difficult and expensive.
Although Six-Six’s condition had stabilized by the third day and his body temperature had risen, the vet, unfortunately, declined to perform the surgery.
However, the kind man refused to give up and took Six-Six to another hospital, determined to give him the life he deserved.
Where There’s A Will There’s A Way
The vet at the second hospital warmly welcomed Six-Six and immediately performed an urgent 3D CT scan. He then outlined his surgical plan, confident that the brave kitten would pull through just fine.
Though Six-Six was weak, his eyes radiated a strong will to live.
On the day of his surgery, he handled everything like a champ. The procedure went smoothly, and soon enough, he was ready for his first acupuncture treatment.
After a few acupuncture sessions, Six-Six’s condition improved dramatically. He began walking on his own, taking more independent steps each day.
His demeanor transformed too! From an anxious and exhausted kitten, he transformed into an energetic, playful one who loved to climb and explore his surroundings.
He finally began behaving like any other kitten, much to his human’s delight!
Over the following days, Six-Six experienced a few health complications, but nothing the vet couldn’t easily manage.
After each vet visit, he would quickly bounce back, eager to take on the world.
Six-Six adored his new home and bonded well with the feline siblings he gained when he became a part of his rescuer’s family.
Today, he cherishes every moment with them, forever grateful that he crossed paths with an incredible human who gave him a second chance at life.
