Recently, a Florida police officer made a shocking discovery in the middle of the highway.
While driving, she spotted a tiny, fluffy kitten all alone. Fearing the worst, the officer quickly contacted Andrea Christian, an animal rescuer, who didn’t hesitate to help.
When Andrea received the call for help, along with photos of the kitten, she wasted no time in responding. The tiny kitten was injured, starving, and in desperate need of attention and professional care.
Button, as she was later named, had several wounds on her chin, chest, and paws, along with missing patches of fur due to ringworm. However, after just a few days of treatment, Button was already showing signs of improvement.
As Button regained her strength, her true personality started to shine. It quickly became clear that she didn’t like being alone and wasn’t afraid to let everyone know it.
When she wasn’t too talkative, Button loved exploring her surroundings. Andrea shared in an interview:
“This girl is always on a mission to get someplace. Most likely the reason she was found on the side of the interstate.”
Andrea provided Button with a large playpen where she could safely play and have fun. But the most adorable thing was that Button remained friendly and affectionate, despite everything she had endured. She just wanted to be loved.
Knowing Button needed a good home, Andrea had a perfect idea. She learned that Nadija, a foster volunteer, was already caring for two kittens with ringworm.
When Andrea reached out to Nadija about fostering Button, she instantly jumped to help. Button was soon sent to her new foster home, where she began thriving.
As soon as she arrived, Button jumped onto a cat tree as if she had lived there her whole life. She quickly bonded with Nadija, following her everywhere. Nadija said:
“Nothing is holding this girl back, and she’s full of personality and has lots of love to give.”
Button later underwent surgery to repair her chin and returned home with a small button on her lip, which inspired her name. Nadija explained:
“The orange piece is to prevent the sutures from sinking into the skin. She’s cute as a button.”
Soon after the surgery, Button blossomed once again. She even made new feline friends who were also undergoing ringworm treatment.
Button is healing beautifully and remains a sweet, playful kitten, hoping to find a loving home and family soon.
