Cat Adopts 2 Orphaned Puppies At A Texas Shelter, Proving That Motherly Love Has No Limits

Sharing is caring!

Many people around the globe are under the impression that cats aren’t as friendly or caring as dogs. They perceive cats as selfish, self-serving, and indifferent to others’ needs.

However, those of us who are passionate cat lovers know that this couldn’t be further from the truth!

Our feline companions are incredibly loving, caring, and considerate. They’re always ready to lend a helping paw and offer a comforting purr to those in need.

My own furballs have often come to me when I was feeling down, sensing my blues and determined to make me feel better with their presence. And let’s not forget all the times they made me laugh with their silly tricks and playful antics.

Cats are definitely full of love, and their affection even extends to dogs – often considered their arch-nemeses.

The story you’re about to read serves as a testament to the power of feline love. Combined with strong maternal instincts, it’s a force that can conquer all!

It all started when a pregnant stray dog arrived at the Wilbarger Humane Society in Vernon, Texas.

The brave mom gave birth to two adorable puppies, whom the shelter staff fittingly named Yin and Yang – because one had darker fur and the other lighter.

The arrival of this new canine family delighted everyone at the shelter. They were all in great health and doing perfectly fine; the mom was diligently grooming and nursing her pups, who were thriving under her care.

But then, one day everything changed!

Just two days after giving birth, the mother dog tragically passed away, leaving her puppies all alone.

The sudden loss broke everyone’s hearts at the Wilbarger Humane Society, especially since they couldn’t determine the cause of her sudden decline in health.

Devastated but resolute, the shelter workers began bottle-feeding the tiny pups, hopeful they would thrive despite the odds.

In what seemed like an act of fate, local animal control officers brought an 8-month-old mother cat named Julie Newmar and her one-week-old kitten, Eartha Kitt, to the Vernon shelter just a few days later.

Hoping to give the orphaned puppies the best chance at survival, the shelter staff deliberated over what to do next.

They decided to see if Julie might accept the puppies alongside her own kitten, nursing them as part of her family.

Sharing their hopeful experiment on Facebook, shelter employee Suzie Streit recounted the heartwarming tale, introducing their new special furry family to the world.

The shelter’s brilliant plan worked purrfectly! Julie Newmar welcomed the two pups into her family, embracing them as her adorable foster sons.

In an interview with KFDX-TV, Suzie praised Julie for being a “really, really good mommy,” marveling at her natural ability to care for the orphaned puppies.

“Cats are really good about when you can put somebody else’s babies on them, and they’ll take other cat babies all the time. But we thought we’d try with the dogs.”

Thankfully, their experiment was a success! Julie proved to be a true hero, lovingly embracing her unconventional little family.

Despite the unusual pairing, Suzie remained confident that the kittens and puppies would grow up happy and healthy together.

With their journey just beginning, there’s no doubt the future holds wonderful things for them. As she remarked:

“[They] still have the rest of their lives ahead of them. As long as they stay happy and healthy, which so far they [have], then they’ve got the rest of their lives to have excellent stories themselves.”

Here’s hoping their story ends with a forever home and an owner ready to give them the love and care they truly deserve!
