These cold days are harsh for everyone, but they can be fatal for animals without shelter, especially for newborns.
That was the harsh fate of a tiny, motherless kitten in the middle of a freezing road, until a kind-hearted woman stepped in and changed everything.
One day, Penka Popova was on her way home when she suddenly noticed something furry in the middle of the road on a bitterly cold day.
Curious, she stopped to investigate and was met with a heartbreaking sight. A tiny, motionless kitten was lying half-frozen in the middle of the road.
Unable to turn a blind eye to the poor soul, Penka gently scooped the kitten up, hoping there was still time to save her.
Penka believed the kitten had somehow gotten separated from her mother and had ended up stranded in the freezing weather. She shared in an interview:
“It was cold and she must have frozen in the night, probably spent the night away from her mother.”
The poor kitten’s condition was tragic. She was barely alive, living her final moments. Penka recalled:
“Her eyes were almost closed, and she wasn’t meowing but making a very faint sound as if she didn’t have any voice to cry.”
Unable to find the mother cat, Penka rushed the kitten home. She tucked her into a warm bed, covered her with blankets, and fed her kitten formula.
Still, despite all the efforts, Penka feared the worst. The kitten was too young to survive such extreme conditions. Yet, she refused to give up. She added:
“She wouldn’t have made it without help because of her being so young. After I put her on the electric heating pillow, she started purring.”
After hearing the kitten purring, Penka broke down in tears. It was a sign that there was still hope for her to survive, and she indeed wanted to fight for her chance in life.
Penka continued caring for the kitten, feeding her every couple of hours, and doing everything she could to bring her back to life.
Finally, after four sleepless nights, something miraculous happened. The kitten began to show remarkable improvement. Her eyes cleared, and she slowly started to walk around, exploring her new surroundings.
Penka was overjoyed to see the kitten finally standing on all fours, realizing that her efforts were not in vain. She affectionately named the kitten Molly and the two began to bond deeply.
Soon, Molly began seeking attention. She would come to Penka and curl up in her arms, demanding cuddles.
As Molly grew bigger and stronger, her true personality began to shine through. She became a happy, playful kitten who, every day, demanded more cuddles and attention.
After spending so much time together, something inevitable happened. Penka and Molly formed an unbreakable bond that they couldn’t bear being apart. So, Penka made an important decision without hesitation – to officially adopt Molly.
Now, the two are living their best lives, side by side. After everything Molly endured, she is surely happy and loved, surrounded by the woman who never gave up on her.
