Woman From Texas Hears Cries Coming From A Nearby Cardboard Box And Can’t Believe What’s Inside

One seemingly ordinary day, a woman was walking past a local business in San Antonio, Texas, when she suddenly heard something that made her stop in her tracks – tiny cries for help.

As she listened more carefully, she realized the cries were coming from a cardboard box nearby, with a heavy water hose stacked on top of it.

Worried about what she might find, the woman cautiously approached the box, determined to help the poor creatures that were obviously trapped inside.

As she approached the box, the woman was met with several tiny furry faces and pleading eyes looking up at her, silently begging for help.

Worried about their safety and well-being, she carefully opened the box and was stunned to find seven adorable puppies, no more than five weeks old, staring up at her.

Her heart broke instantly. She couldn’t fathom how anyone could be so cruel as to abandon these innocent pups in a box, leaving them to fend for themselves overnight with no chance of survival.

Thankfully, she was a rescue volunteer and foster mom herself, so she knew exactly how to handle this stressful situation.

Without wasting any time, she reached out to every shelter and rescue organization she could think of.

But one by one, they all gave her the same heartbreaking response – they were at full capacity. 

Unfortunately, no shelter she reached out to was able to commit to feeding seven more mouths.

Running out of options, she made one final call to Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts Rescue (TPGHR). She already volunteered with them and knew they were overwhelmed as well, but she had to try.

Thankfully, despite being stretched thin, the rescue – led by their president Nancy – decided to step in and give the poor pups the chance they desperately needed.

As they shared in in their Facebook post:

“When Nancy saw their picture, she said, ‘It’s an awful feeling looking at seven little puppies and being the reason that they live or [pass away].’ Nancy chose for them to live.”

The woman rushed the puppies straight to the shelter, where they were carefully examined by the shelter’s skilled veterinary team.

The puppies were estimated to be around four to five weeks old and were a mixed breed, with two girls and five boys.

The rescuers suspect that their owner, unwilling to care for the litter, abandoned them overnight, even placing a hose on top of the box to prevent their escape.

Thankfully, the brave little pups worked together and managed to create a small crack, just large enough to poke their tiny noses out and take quick breaths of air.

Isn’t that incredible?

Once the puppies were examined and found to be healthy, the woman who discovered them took them home to foster.

She lovingly cared for them until they were ready for the next big step in their journey: Adoption.

I truly hope they have found their forever home, where they will be loved and cared for always.
