South Carolina Shelter Worker Shares What Two Kittens Did And It’s The Sweetest Thing

Let me tell you about a little ray of sunshine named Colleen. She’s this 13-week-old bundle of joy living at the Humane Society of York County in South Carolina.
From the moment she arrived, she had everyone smitten. Not because she meowed the loudest or made the biggest fuss, but because Colleen had something extra special about her: no tail.
Yep, you read that right. Sweet Colleen showed up without a tail, and no one really knew how it happened.

Maybe something rough happened before she got there, or maybe she was just born that way. Either way, it didn’t matter to her.
And honestly, it didn’t matter to anyone at the shelter either. Because from the second she bounced in, she made it clear that she was all heart.
Colleen is the kind of kitten who brings the party wherever she goes. She zooms around like she’s got places to be, friends to see, and cuddles to give.
She’s one of those cats who doesn’t just want to make friends; she lives for it.

One morning, one of the rescue workers, Vicki, walked into the cat room expecting the usual kitten chaos. But what she saw made her pause.
Instead of kittens tumbling over each other in their never-ending games of chase, the room was quiet. Colleen was sitting quietly by the bars of her kennel.
And across from her, in the neighboring kennel, sat Pedro Pascal, another kitten at the shelter. He wasn’t playing either.
What caught Vicki’s breath was the way their tiny front paws were stretched out toward each other, meeting right between the bars.

Colleen and Pedro were holding paws in the most adorable way. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.
And in a room usually full of noise and kitten mayhem, that peaceful little moment between two furry pals felt like magic. Vicky shared in an interview:
“They were just sitting there with their hands together. At that moment in time, they weren’t playing. They were both just laying there… It was just so cute, and it looked like they were making a little heart with their hands.”
Even though Colleen and Pedro weren’t siblings, they were clearly each other’s safe place.

A while later, Pedro got adopted and Colleen stayed behind. But don’t worry, Colleen didn’t let that get her down.
She’s got a heart too full to keep to herself, so she just kept on being the friendly little whirlwind she is. She plays, snuggles, and chirps at anyone walking by.
She’s got lots of kitten buddies she loves spending time with. And if she sees another kitten who’s feeling lonely? You better believe she’ll curl right up next to them.
Everyone at the shelter knows that Colleen is a total gem. She’s already been spayed and she’s up to date on all her shots.
Now, she’s just waiting to meet her forever human, someone who sees her the way Pedro did.

Honestly, if you’re thinking about adopting a kitten, Colleen’s the kind of sweetheart who really shines when she’s got a buddy. Two kittens aren’t just double the fun; they’re double the comfort, double the play, and double the purring at bedtime!
Colleen is the best of everything, as Vicky shared:
“She’s kind of the best of both worlds for a kitten. She is playful and spry, and she’s silly, but she is a huge cuddle bug.”
All she’s missing now is a cozy home (and maybe a forever friend to hold paws with again).
