California Man Wakes Up To His Wife Claiming The Stove Is ‘Meowing,’ Then He Hears It Himself
Have you ever been jolted awake by a strange noise in your home? Chris Wilson certainly was!
He was deep in sleep when his wife suddenly woke him up, insisting there was a cat trapped inside the stove in their California home!
This is the story of that surprising wake-up call and the heartwarming journey that followed.
“Honey, Wake Up! There’s A Cat In The Stove!”
One morning, Chris was awakened by his wife Ashley. Still groggy and hesitant to leave the warmth of his bed, he was slow to respond. But the urgency in her voice quickly snapped him to attention.
She told him she had heard meowing coming from the stove! It wasn’t the kind of wake-up call Chris had anticipated, but it certainly made for a funny start to his day.
Reflecting on the strange situation, Chris explained in an interview:
“My wife had woken up to the sound of meowing at about 4:45 am and initially thought it was coming from outside. But after searching around for a few minutes, she realized it was coming from inside the house, and was able to pinpoint it to our stove hood.”
As Chris made his way into the kitchen, he couldn’t help but wonder how a cat could possibly have ended up inside their stove.
Hesitant, he peeked inside, thinking it might just be a product of his wife’s overactive imagination.
But to his surprise, the soft but clear sound of meowing was coming from the stove. Soon, Chris realized that a tiny kitten had somehow gotten trapped inside the hood.
Rescuing The Stove Kitty
Chris was determined to free the kitten, but despite his efforts, he couldn’t figure out how. He explained:
“I disassembled the hood to try and get it out, but couldn’t. So I went up in the attic to see if I could free it from there but couldn’t.”
The kitten seemed too frightened to move, so Chris left the hood open, hoping that in time, it would come out on its own.
Despite hours of trying, the little kitten still wouldn’t come out.
So, Chris decided to place a towel with some tuna near the vent, hoping the irresistible smell would draw the kitten out.
Luckily, the tuna worked its magic, and Chris was finally able to catch him! The grateful family quickly cleaned him up, fed him, and let him rest.
A New Family Member
The family quickly grew attached to their new little companion, and Chris realized there was no way around it – they were definitely keeping him.
With a smile, Chris shared the news:
“We are keeping him. The vet says he’s about 6 weeks old. We named him Stovetop. My wife and daughters are in love with him.”
What started as a surprising wake-up call turned into a heartwarming adoption story!
Looking back on the surprising turn of events, Chris admitted he couldn’t figure out how the kitten ended up inside their stove, saying:
“It’s a single-family home with no obvious way for a kitten to get on the roof. But the vent from the oven hood exits to the roof, so the cat must have gotten in through that.”
It seems Chris is unaware of cats’ mysterious abilities! But now that he’s a cat dad, he’ll soon learn all about the unique quirks and charm of having a feline companion.
