Woman Couldn’t Figure Out Why Her Kitten Was Crying Non-Stop Until She Realized What Was Missing
Let me tell you a sweet little story about how one kitten’s tears led to something no one could’ve seen coming: a second chance, a sibling reunion, and two beautiful, happy endings.
It all began when Vivian Powers decided to foster a kitten. There was this one shy little girl in the litter who just looked so unsure of the world.
Her name was Sissy.
While the rest of her siblings were bouncy and playful, Sissy seemed scared. So, Vivian brought her home, hoping the little one would finally be able to relax.
But once she arrived, things didn’t go quite as planned. Instead of settling in, Sissy cried. Not just a little. All the time.
Vivian tried every soothing trick in the book, but Sissy was inconsolable. It was like she was missing something, or someone, and her heart just couldn’t settle without it.

Sissy’s brother, Toto, was sick. He had gotten sick with FIP, a serious illness that was almost always fatal, especially since the shelter wasn’t allowed to treat it yet.
Vivian had just lost another foster cat, Mowgli, to the same illness not long before, and the pain of that loss was still fresh. So seeing Toto like that felt personal. It felt urgent.
And it all felt connected like Sissy’s crying had somehow led Vivian exactly where she needed to be. Vivian felt it wasn’t just a coincidence, sharing:
“I never would have gone back to the shelter if it wasn’t for her crying.”
And then something amazing happened. A kind stranger offered to donate the life-saving FIP medication if Vivian would foster Toto.
Of course, Vivian took Toto in right away.
The medicine helped, but Toto still struggled. Vivian wasn’t ready to give up. She asked her dog’s physical therapist if she could try something.
The therapist began working with Toto, using gentle massages and laser therapy to ease his pain and reduce the fluid in his body. And it worked.
Little by little, Toto started to feel better. And somewhere between those sessions, something sweet began to bloom.
The therapist and Toto formed a special bond. Toto started to lean into her touch, to feel safe with her. And she, in turn, saw something in him worth fighting for.
Before long, she adopted him, promising to stay by his side through every part of his healing. Vivian shared:
“It’s such a beautiful relationship. She knew he was sick and she loved him anyway.”
Back at home, something was changing in Sissy, too.
Having her brother around gave Sissy the confidence she needed. She started opening up, showing her silly side, leaning into love. She was finally ready.
Vivian found her the perfect forever home, where she quickly became best friends with another kitty named Iska. The two are now inseparable.
It’s kind of magical when you think about it. If Sissy hadn’t cried so much… if Vivian hadn’t listened… if one kind stranger hadn’t stepped in… Toto might not have made it.
But because all those little moments lined up just right, two cats got their fresh start. Two hearts healed. All because one lonely kitten just wanted a friend.
