Woman Enters Virginia Store With Kitten In Bag, Leaves Staff Stunned

Sometimes the smallest animals carry the biggest personalities, and that’s certainly true for one spirited little tabby named Seymour. His endless energy and love for playtime made him unforgettable—but his rescue story is just as memorable.
It all began in Northern Virginia, where animal rescuer Brittany was busy at a weekly adoption event.

Surrounded by cats and kittens awaiting new homes, she didn’t expect to be pulled away from the event so suddenly. But then she received an urgent call—there was a kitten loose in the middle of a busy pet store, and she needed to come right away.

The circumstances were strange. How had this tiny tabby ended up wandering around inside a store? The security footage soon revealed the answer.
A woman had walked in carrying a bag, and inside that bag was the kitten. Without saying a word, she opened the bag, set the kitten down, and left. Brittany later shared her feelings about the situation:
“I wish the lady would have talked to us or even just left the bag on our table if she didn’t want to talk. We are so full and stressed, but I’ve made room, and he will get the best care I can give him.”

Brittany took the kitten in immediately, naming him Seymour in honour of his unusual introduction to her care. He appeared to be in good health, but to keep him safe and protect the other cats in the rescue, he was placed in quarantine.
It didn’t take long for Seymour’s personality to shine. Even in isolation, he was bold, lively, and always ready for action. There was just one small issue—without other kittens to play with, he decided Brittany’s hands were the next best thing.

The moment he spotted her hand, his whole body would puff up, his back would arch, and he’d spit in mock battle before pouncing. Sometimes he played so enthusiastically that he crossed into “ouch” territory, but it was clear he meant no harm.
Brittany used Seymour as an example of why kittens benefit from having other kittens to grow up with:
“The kitten dumped at Petsmart is a prime example of why kittens need other kittens to play with. He’s very sweet, but he wants to play with me like I’m a kitten.”

But Seymour wasn’t just feisty. He had a soft, loving side too. Between his bursts of energy, he’d happily curl up in Brittany’s lap for a cuddle. As Brittany put it:
“He makes me laugh every day and is the sweetest, feisty little guy. When he’s not acting (crazy) he’s cuddling in my lap.”
Knowing how much Seymour loved to play, Brittany gave him a toy fish to keep him occupied—and it was an instant hit.

Day or night, he’d bat it, bite it, and carry it proudly around his space. Still, there were rare moments when he chose rest over mischief. Brittany fondly recalled one such occasion:
“Today is a cool rainy day in bed, These are the pictures of Seymour looking calm, but he spent most of the time attacking everything and playing. He is a fluffy ball of pure energy.”
Under Brittany’s care, Seymour thrived. His confidence grew, his playful nature flourished, and his affectionate side became even more apparent.
It wasn’t long before his story caught the attention of Heather, a woman who instantly fell in love with the lively little tabby. She knew he would fill her home with joy and was determined to give him the forever home he deserved.
Now, Seymour’s days are filled with love, adventure, and endless opportunities to chase, pounce, and play to his heart’s content.
What began as a strange rescue in the middle of a pet store has turned into a happy ending for a kitten who was once left behind—but is now cherished beyond measure.
