Florida Senior Shelter Dog Shares Her Stuffed Toys With Everyone Who Passes By Her Kennel

Meet Peanut, a lovable and playful pit bull with a heart full of love, and a special affection for stuffed animals.

Peanut was about 7 years old when she arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County. She had been transferred from another shelter, so the team at HSBC didn’t know much about her past.

But what they quickly discovered was how sweet and gentle she was.

Even after all she had been through, Peanut is still cheerful and affectionate. According to the shelter staff, she always had a wagging tail and was eager to meet new people. As they shared on Facebook:

“Despite it all, she’s remained silly, sweet, and full of love.”

One thing that really stood out about Peanut was her love for stuffed toys, or “stuffies,” as the staff called them. From the moment she was given her first one, it was clear these toys brought her a lot of comfort.

She would carry them around for hours, holding them tightly as if they were her most treasured belongings.

The shelter staff was touched by this habit and made sure Peanut had plenty of toys to choose from.

Whether it was a stuffed hamburger, a crocodile, a bone, or a soft little lamb, Peanut didn’t mind, she loved them all equally. Each day, she would carefully select one and carry it around proudly. The shelter shared:

“She starts out her days by carrying her stuffie out with her while she goes on her potty break.”

Her love for toys wasn’t just adorable, it was also her way of coping with the stress of being in a shelter. Sadly, though, even with her sweet personality and playful spirit, Peanut kept getting passed over by visitors.

The main reason? Her age.

At 7, Peanut was considered a senior by many adopters, and that made it harder for her to find a home. But the staff at HSBC couldn’t understand why no one was giving her a chance. They shared on Facebook:

“Peanut has been with us for some time, and we truly don’t understand why. She greets everyone at her kennel door with pure joy, always ready to make a new friend.”

Hoping to change her luck, the shelter posted a video of Peanut proudly holding her stuffies, showing off her sweet and funny side. The video quickly gained attention, and it worked!

Not long after the video was shared, someone walked into the shelter and said they wanted to adopt Peanut.

On the day she left the shelter, the staff made sure she had one last stuffie to take with her on her new adventure. She picked it out herself, of course.

“Before leaving our shelter, she picked up one last toy from us. And she went straight to greet her new family and brother.”

Thanks to a little stuffed toy and a lot of love, Peanut finally got the happy ending she deserved. Check out this video!
