Ohio Woman Can’t Resist This Timid Stray Cat Begging To Get Adopted

Stray cats usually keep their distance, shy and cautious as they do their best to stay out of harm’s way.

Yet with a little kindness, many of them blossom into the most affectionate companions.

That’s something Anna Caplan from Ohio never expected to experience firsthand – until the day a stray cat decided to plead with her to take him home.

One afternoon, Anna returned home to discover a shy little cat tucked away in her backyard.

As a devoted cat lover and already the proud owner of a tabby, she couldn’t resist trying to approach the unexpected visitor.

But the nervous stray wasn’t ready for human contact and quickly slipped out of sight. Determined to help, Anna and her roommate chose a gentler approach.

They began leaving food outside, giving him the chance to come out when he felt safe. Sure enough, the cautious boy waited until the coast was clear before emerging to enjoy the meal left just for him.

However, what Anna didn’t know was that it would take only one meal for the cat to change his behavior.

He came out of his hiding place and made himself comfortable on their window, but he was still a bit shy. As Anna said in her video:

“He wasn’t fully comfortable I want to say, until like five or six months.”

Anna hurried to open the window and reached out to pet him. Though still a little wary, he allowed her to give him a few gentle scratches.

From that moment on, the fluffy stray kept coming back each day, often lounging on the window ledge as if it were his new favorite spot.

Anna decided to name him Bart, and over the following months, he grew even closer. He began trailing after her everywhere, even walking her to the car each time she stepped out the front door.

If she was doing some errands around the backyard, Bart was there to lend his helping paw. However, sweet Bart was sick and tired of the harsh street life and he decided it was time to move inside.

Bart figured out an adorable way to get himself adopted. He would come every night and just scratch and paw at their windows or back door. As Anna mentioned:

“He would get up in the window and he would scratch pretty much every single night.”

Bart was more than ready to soak up love and snuggles indoors, but Anna had to wait a little longer.

At the time, she and her roommate were fostering kittens, and until those little ones found homes of their own, Bart had to remain outside.

Still, Anna looked forward to the day she could welcome him in properly and give him the affection he craved.

When the foster kittens were finally adopted, the moment arrived – Bart could at last come inside and start his new life with her.

When Anna finally welcomed him indoors, Bart took his time exploring every corner, making sure the house met his approval. Once satisfied, he happily settled in and soaked up all the affection he could get.

From then on, he became her little shadow. Whether she was heading to the kitchen for a glass of water or moving from room to room, Bart was always right at her heels.

Anna was completely smitten with Bart and she was more than happy that she adopted him. As she also shared:

“Knowing that I have saved a life and that he is happy, is like the best feeling ever.”

Bart had at last found safety and comfort in a loving home, far removed from the struggles of street life.
