Georgia Family Dog Gains His Own Door After A Persistent Stalker Shows Up

Most people know what it is like to deal with a nosy neighbor who seems to show up far too often.

Usually, those visits feel more bothersome than welcome. But every rule has its exception, and in this case, the exception comes with four paws, a swishing tail, and a purr.

For Hilarie and her dogs, the daily visitor is a gray and white cat named Oliver.

No matter if it is sunny, raining, or anything in between, Oliver makes his way to their home every single day. His mission is always the same: to spend time with his favorite canine friend.

At first, Oliver simply appeared at their front door, calmly waiting for someone to let him in.

He showed no fear of the two dogs that lived inside and seemed determined to make himself part of their routine. Before long, he began joining the family on their daily walks through the neighborhood.

In the video, Hilarie recalls how bold he was from the very beginning:

“When he joins us for the walk, oftentimes he goes out in the front like he’s the leader.”

After asking around the neighborhood, Hilarie discovered that the mysterious visitor’s name was Oliver. More importantly, she learned that he had formed a special bond with her dog Gunny. The two connected instantly, and their friendship has only grown stronger with time.

“When they greet, Oliver makes sure to touch Gunny with his tail. Some people call those cat hugs.”

Their bond became so close that Gunny began waiting by the door each day for Oliver to arrive. Eventually, it was clear that Oliver was not just an occasional visitor but a constant presence in their lives.

To make things easier, Hilarie installed a small cat-sized opening in the screen next to the dog door so Oliver could come and go whenever he pleased.

“We ended up installing a little cat door in the screen next to the dog door so that he can come and go.”

Oliver quickly made himself at home. He tries out every blanket, bed, or surface in the house until he finds just the right spot for a nap.

Sometimes, he even climbs into the kitchen sink for a quick drink of water. It did not take long before his visits felt completely natural, as if he had always been part of the household.

He also noticed something very important during those daily walks with Gunny. Each time the dogs returned home, they were rewarded with a treat. Oliver clearly decided that he deserved one too.

Soon, Hilarie was adding cat treats to her shopping list, and now Oliver gets his snack right alongside the dogs.

These days, Oliver is more like a member of the family than a visitor. He comes and goes as he pleases, takes naps in their home, enjoys walks, and has earned a permanent place in Gunny’s heart.

Hilarie laughs that it feels like having a relative who lives across the street but pops in every day to hang out.

Cats are famous for showing up unexpectedly, often choosing their families rather than the other way around. Still, Oliver’s story is unique.

He not only chose his favorite dog as a best friend but also found a second home filled with warmth, treats, and companionship. It is safe to say he is no ordinary neighbor.
