Minnesota Couple Spends Two Days Rescuing A Furry Family Under Their Porch, But It Was Worth It

Roo and Clara Yori, a couple from Rochester, Minnesota, have a well-earned reputation for rescuing animals, including a Pit Bull who got to meet Betty White.
But they never expected their next rescue to be right in their own backyard.
One evening, while walking their dogs, Clara heard a soft meow coming from under their porch. It wasn’t the usual hungry-cat sound; it was a cry for help.

Instantly concerned, Clara and Roo jumped into action. Even though it was late at night, they called on Michele from Camp Companion to help.
Equipped with a shovel, a lamp, and plenty of determination, they started digging under the porch to reach the trapped kitten.
It was a tight, dark space, and rescuing him wasn’t going to be easy.

The team worked tirelessly, trying every method they could think of for over two hours. Clara even ran out in the middle of the night to get a special tool.
As time dragged on, the kitten’s cries grew fainter, which only added to their worry.
Just when hope seemed to be slipping away, Roo used the universal cat call: “pspspsps”, to coax the little furball out. Finally, just after midnight, they pulled him free using a small twine noose.

Exhausted but safe, the kitten immediately felt the comfort of human care. They named him Bartholomew and gave him a warm meal and a cozy place to rest.
The next day, Clara brought Bartholomew to the vet for a check-up. During his recovery, the team learned that he wasn’t alone: his mother and two siblings were nearby.
Camp Companion set up a trap and patiently waited, determined to reunite the family.

While Roo returned to the porch to block the hole, he made a surprising discovery: Bartholomew’s mom and siblings were hiding even deeper than they expected.
The following day, Michele crawled under the porch and carefully rescued each scared kitten hiding in the straw. Soon after, the brave mama cat was caught.
Finally, the furry family was reunited in a secure, cozy nursery. It turned out the mama cat had likely tried to move her kittens due to construction in the backyard.

With the family now safe, Bartholomew and his siblings quickly returned to playful kitten antics, exploring and hiding, though this time in areas that were easy for their humans to keep an eye on.
Thanks to the determination of the Yoris and the help of Camp Companion, this mama cat and her three kittens were given a second chance.
Their story proves that teamwork, patience, and a little “pspspsps” magic can work wonders.
