Mississippi Cat Spends Four Days Stuck In A Tree, Scared Of Chasing Dogs Below

Cats often get stuck in trees, whether out of curiosity, fear, or simply to escape danger. Sometimes they climb down on their own, but other times, they need a helping hand.
This was the case for Cutie, a sweet Torbie cat in Mississippi who ended up trapped in a tree after a frightening encounter with loose dogs.
The little cat had been chased by dogs into a wooded area near her home. In her panic, she scrambled up the nearest tree, seeking refuge from the terrifying threat below.

She remained stuck there for four long days, not because she couldn’t climb down, but because the fear of the dogs kept her frozen in place.
Despite being low in the tree and able to safely descend, Cutie felt safer staying above the ground, even enduring harsh weather.
Randall Kolb, a Louisiana cat rescuer famously known as the Cat Rescue Guy, received a call about Cutie and didn’t hesitate to spring into action.
When the weather finally cleared, Randall set out on a challenging mission to rescue her.

He described the situation on his blog:
“Cutie is normally a very friendly girl, but she was terrified to see me climb up to her. She walked out to the end of the limb to get as far away from me as possible, and there she stopped and let out a sad and pitiful cry of doom.”
Even attempts to lure her with food failed. Randall realized he needed a different approach.
The limb Cutie was perched on was far too thin to safely support Randall’s weight, so he carefully climbed higher, searching for a sturdier branch that could hold him.

Inch by inch, he moved closer, speaking softly and steadily to reassure the terrified cat.
At first, Cutie kept her distance, unsure of his intentions. But slowly, as Randall remained patient and calm, she began to relax.
Forty tense minutes passed, and finally, she leaned in and rubbed her cheek against his hand, which was a clear sign that she was starting to trust him. Randall shared:
“It took me 40 minutes in the tree with her to reach this point, but that was when I knew it would all work out well.”

With her trust established, Randall carefully spread a cat bag over his lap, ready to safely catch her. But Cutie, true to her mischievous and playful nature, wasn’t ready to be caught just yet.
She stepped onto his lap, then darted back to the other end of the branch, repeating the playful game several times.
Randall stayed patient. He let her set the pace until she finally allowed him to secure her inside the bag.
Relieved, he descended the tree with Cutie safely in his arms.

Once on solid ground, he released her back to the loving arms of her human, Mildred, and her curious feline sister.
Though Cutie was unharmed physically, the experience had been frightening, and she needed some time and care to fully recover emotionally from her terrifying ordeal.
Thanks to Randall’s patience, bravery, and skill, Cutie was finally safe, reunited with her family, and hopefully learned that staying closer to home is the safest choice.
