Florida Couple Makes A Stunning Discovery After Adopting A Stray Kitty

Meet Lottie (short for Charlotte), a cat who stumbled upon the right home while looking for food and ended up being adopted by a loving couple. 

But the journey that brought her to this happy ending was anything but simple. 

Allison Ilcken, a foster volunteer with AnimalLuvr’s Dream Rescue in Florida, first noticed Lottie wandering near her home, clearly searching for something to eat.

Being avid cat lovers, Allison and her family began leaving food out for the hungry kitty.

The cat began returning around 4-5 every evening, which was a good sign that she was starting to feel more comfortable. Allison shared in an interview:

“I noticed her on the porch for three days. She disappeared for a week or two and then reappeared.”

It quickly became apparent that the cat was all alone, as no one in the area came forward to claim her. So, they set a humane trap and brought her to safety.

Initially, the poor cat was frightened, hissing and swatting in fear. Luckily, Allison knew how to handle the situation.

She provided the cat with a quiet space, lots of treats, and soon, the kitty began to open up.

At first, she would hide her face under a blanket, but slowly, she began to enjoy gentle back rubs.

Step by step, she learned to enjoy chin scratches while holding her head up. Allison explained:

“It took a solid week to notice her feeling slightly comfortable, but the real change came after she was spayed. She suddenly became remarkably lovely.”

Little by little, Lottie began to trust Allison and her family. As time passed, Allison noticed something intriguing.

Lottie’s age and coat type reminded her of a former foster kitten, Berlioz, who had been rescued from the same neighborhood about six months earlier.

Similar to Lottie, Berlioz was also terrified upon arrival. But, little by little, he became a lovely cat who found a perfect home. Allison said:

“We suspected that this sweet girl might be Berlioz’s sister. She is the same size with the same fluff.”

After taking Lottie for an examination, the vet confirmed her age, revealing that Lottie and Berlioz were 99.9% siblings.

When Berlioz’s adoptive parents learned about Lottie, his long-lost sister, they decided to adopt her as well, so the siblings could finally be reunited.

The couple gave her the name Bellatrix and welcomed her into their loving home. Bellatrix needed some time to settle into her new life.

At first, she was quite nervous and spent the first few days hiding in her cozy cave bed.

However, after just a few days, Bellatrix began to warm up to her new parents, relishing their affection and attention.

Now, you’re probably wondering, what about her and Berlioz?

At first, Berlioz, now called Professor, was a bit hesitant, not knowing how to handle her friendly enthusiasm.

However, Bellatrix’s persistence paid off, and they gradually found a way to get along. Allison said:

“He relearned to play with her and now, they are inseparable. He is truly happy to be with his sister.”

Now, the brother and sister are inseparable, doing everything together. They race around the house, play with one another, and at the end of the day, they curl up together, showering each other with love.

After a few months, Bellatrix and Professor are finally reunited, and none of this would have been possible without Allison and the couple who decided to adopt Professor’s sister after hearing her story!
