Driver Halts California Traffic To Rescue A Matted Pup And Is Shocked By Who She Really Is

One of the most dangerous places for any lost or abandoned dog is a busy road. With cars whizzing by and panic setting in, too many frightened pups don’t make it out alive.
But one little dreadlocked dog with a pink nose beat the odds, and it was all thanks to a driver who refused to look the other way.
That driver was Yamy Nuñez, who was making her way through Los Angeles when she noticed the tiny pup darting frantically through lanes of fast-moving traffic. Her heart sank watching the dog weave in and out, terrified and seconds from disaster.
Realizing no one else was stopping, Yamy made a split-second decision. She pulled over, parked in the middle of the road, and used her car to block traffic, determined to buy just enough time to scoop the trembling pup to safety before tragedy struck.

You see, Yamy isn’t just any driver. She’s a volunteer with Logan’s Legacy 29, so she knows exactly how dangerous the streets can be for a dog in distress.
Even though the poor girl was nervous and skittish, Yamy stayed patient until she finally had her safely in her arms. Suzette Hall, who founded Logan’s Legacy 29, later shared the story on Facebook:
“She was crossing a busy street and Yamy got out of her car to stop traffic… After some time, she had this sweet girl safe. You are her hero Yamy.”
Yamy knew the pup needed medical care, so she rushed her straight to Camino Pet Hospital. Then came the surprise no one saw coming.

The vets scanned the dog and found a microchip with a working phone number attached. When they dialed it, both sides of the call were left completely stunned.
On the other end was a devastated family who had been searching for their dog for two long months, as Hall explained:
“Bella had been missing for 2 months. They literally couldn’t believe she was found alive.”

As it turned out, the shaggy little pup wasn’t a stray at all. Her name was Bella, and she had a family who had nearly lost hope of ever finding her again.
The vets scheduled a much-needed grooming session for Bella and then arranged her reunion with her humans. And when that reunion happened, it was pure magic.
The second Bella saw them, she lit up, tail wagging like crazy. Her family couldn’t hold back the tears. Hall recalled:
“Oh my goodness, there wasn’t a dry eye. She instantly recognized her family and her dog family. I can’t explain the joy.”

It’s hard to imagine how differently this could have ended if Yamy hadn’t been there at just the right moment. Instead of tragedy, this story ended in the best way possible, with Bella safely back where she belongs.
Now Bella is recovering, soaking up all the love she missed, and hopefully not planning any more street adventures.
