Los Angeles Man Adopts Stray Kitten Who Walked Into His Shop Desperate For Love
When I was a kid, I used to beg my mom every single morning to let me take our cat, Tilly, to school with me.
I’d make every argument I could think of: “She’ll sit quietly in my backpack!” or “Everyone will love her, I promise!”
Of course, my mom never agreed. But back then, I made a little promise to myself: when I grow up, I’ll take my pets everywhere.
Well… life had other plans for me, but there’s someone out there who’s living that dream to the fullest.
His name is Justin LaRose, and he’s a creative soul from Los Angeles who somehow managed to combine his love for skateboarding, art, and yes – cats!
Before his current adventure, Justin spent nearly 15 years working as a barista, mastering the perfect latte art and greeting countless customers with a smile.
But outside of work, he was happiest on his skateboard, rolling through the streets and chasing inspiration. Eventually, his two passions, coffee and skateboarding, led him down a new path.
One day, Justin decided it was time for a change. With his wife, Kristin, by his side, he opened a shop where he repurposes broken or discarded skateboards into stunning pieces of art and furniture.
Every table, stool, and sculpture is made from layers of colorful decks, giving old boards new life. But just when the couple thought they had their dream business running smoothly, fate sent them something even better.
A tiny black kitten appeared outside Justin’s shop one day, softly meowing for attention.
He was small, scruffy, and full of personality. Justin knelt down, said hello — and instantly fell in love. That was the day Grizzly entered his life.
Grizzly was named after Justin’s favourite woodworking machines, and before long, this curious kitten became the heart and soul of the workshop.
He wasn’t just the shop cat, he quickly rose through the ranks, taking on multiple job titles: CEO, security guard, quality control inspector, and, of course, raddest boss in town.
Grizzly takes his duties seriously, well, between naps and play sessions, anyway. Whenever Justin needs a break from sanding or gluing boards, his furry coworker is right there, ready for a quick game or a cuddle.
Their bond is impossible to miss. Justin works, Grizzly supervises — usually from the top of a skateboard stack or a sunny corner of the shop.
And because he’s the cat of a skateboarder, Grizzly’s picked up a few tricks himself. Watching him balance and roll around like a tiny pro will melt your heart!
These two are more than just a man and his cat — they’re best friends, creative partners, and a reminder that sometimes, life’s best surprises come wrapped in fur.
