Louisiana Cat’s Tree-Climbing Addiction Leads To Multiple Rescues By The Same Hero

If there’s one thing cat owners know all too well, it’s that our furry friends love to climb.
Whether it’s a fence, curtain, or tree, there’s something irresistible about reaching new heights — even if getting back down isn’t part of the plan.

For Simon, a curious tabby from Bunkie, Louisiana, tree-climbing has become a full-time hobby.
Unfortunately for his family, it’s also turned into a recurring emergency. Luckily, Simon has his very own hero — a rescuer named Randall Kolb, better known online as Cat Rescue Guy.

Randall and Simon’s friendship began in the most fitting way: high up in a tree. When Simon was just three months old, his sense of adventure got the better of him. He scaled the tall tree in his front yard without thinking twice.
But once he looked down, panic set in. For two long nights he was stuck, meowing helplessly for help.

By the time Randall arrived, Simon was nearly 50 feet off the ground. The rescuer secured his ropes and began his climb, worried that his presence might frighten the kitten even higher.
But Simon’s relief was instant. The moment he saw Randall approaching, his fear turned into excitement, and he carefully worked his way toward him.

On his blog, Randall shared how Simon made the rescue mission surprisingly easy. He said:
“Once he saw me climbing up to him, he got so excited that he came down to me. That desperate boy overcame his fear and worked his way down toward me while repeatedly losing and then regaining his grip on the stem.”

Within minutes, the trembling kitten was safe in Randall’s carrier, finally heading home to rest beside his favourite toy.
Only a few months later, the little daredevil struck again. This time, Simon was found perched about 20 feet up a smaller tree near his home. He had spent a single night outside before his family called Randall back for round two.

Simon seemed to recognise his rescuer instantly. Instead of panicking, he paced the branches, trying to follow Randall’s movements. When Randall reached him, Simon calmly stepped into his arms, happy to be carried down.
Once they were almost at the ground, Simon decided to make the final leap himself, landing safely and darting across the yard in pure joy.

His family decided that would be the end of his outdoor adventures — at least, that was the plan.
Months passed before Randall’s phone rang again. Simon was back at it, proving that his passion for climbing hadn’t faded in the slightest.
By this point, he was something of a local legend, and Randall’s visits had become part of the routine.

During his third rescue, Simon was about 25 feet up a new tree he’d never explored before.
This time, there was no drama. The seasoned climber spotted Randall, meowed a greeting, and waited patiently for his lift home. When the carrier opened, he hopped inside like an old pro.
Randall later shared that Simon’s rescues are some of his favourites — not just because they’re easy, but because of how sweet-natured and trusting the cat is.

After so many climbs together, their bond has become something special.
Whether Simon has finally learned his lesson remains to be seen. But if he ever decides to scale another tree, one thing is certain — his favourite rescuer will be there to bring him safely back down again.
