Long Island Man Hears Desperate Cries And Finds A Helpless Animal Stranded High In A Tree

John Debacker recently shared a video that quickly captured the attention of people online. He’s well-known in the rescue community, especially when it comes to helping cats in tough situations. 

When someone comes across a problem they can’t handle on their own—like a kitten wedged behind a wall – John is often the first person they think to call.

That’s exactly what happened in this case. A small kitten had gotten himself into serious trouble, and his terrified cries were so loud and desperate that a neighbor couldn’t ignore them.

The man hurried outside as soon as he heard the cries, but at first, there was no sign of the kitten. 

It didn’t take long for him to realize the desperate meows were coming from high above, and that’s when he knew it was time to call in a professional.

Perched over 40 feet high at the top of a tree, the tiny kitten sat trembling with fear. No one knew how he had managed to get up there, especially since he was barely three months old. 

Answering the man’s call for help, John Debacker arrived, prepared to do whatever it took to bring the little one to safety.

When John set up his ladder, he quickly saw it wasn’t tall enough. Even after climbing to the very top, the kitten remained just beyond his reach. 

Hoping to coax him down, John carried a bit of kitten food up with him, the scent of tuna wafting through the branches. 

But the little one was paralyzed with fear, unable to move, so John had to gently encourage him to take that brave step.

John spoke softly, calling to the kitten with a reassuring voice, promising that everything would be okay. 

The little one hesitated, too frightened to leap into his arms – and who could blame him? 

There was still a daunting 17-foot gap between them, and the kitten needed time to gather the courage to make a move.

At last, John’s gentle encouragement worked its magic. With one brave leap, the frightened kitten jumped straight into his hands, as if he finally trusted that everything would be okay. 

A wave of relief swept over John and the neighbours gathered below, who had been watching anxiously the whole time. The little one was safe at last, nestled snugly inside John’s sweater, finally free from danger.

John didn’t stop there, though – he made sure the kitten was placed in a loving foster home, where he would be cared for until his forever family came along. It’s hard not to call John a true hero for giving this tiny soul another shot at life. 

Hopefully, this adventurous kitten has learned his lesson and will keep his paws firmly on the ground from now on.
